i know it is impossible to say unless you were there but from flicking between blur and the prodigy via 'the red button', the prodigy were far more impressive (although blur looked alright to be fair).

Blur would definately trempt me to get a ticket next year if they played, they were amazing in 99 and were still quite good in 03 without Coxon (especially with Beck on the same day)

no one is adreessing the most important question here, who's going to be 2nd headliner under daft punk?

My friend photographed prodigy for nme and he said they were immense. He's just started working for them and when he was editing the pictures for prodigy carl barat came on the bus and offered him a line of coke. Gonna see prodigy at open'er festival in poland sunday, can't wait. Get yourselves to krakow, its amazing

More to the point, If Daft Punk played, would it matter who was below them?

Saw daft punk at leeds wireless and they are easily the best thing i've seen. Prodigy this weekend in poland has the potential to9 beat it but its gonna take some doing

I dunno... last time they played, there was too much stuff from Think Tank. And I'm a massive fan of that, its just not very easy listening for a 'casual' fan if they haven't heard it before. I'm seeing Blur at a festival, I want as many of the classics are possible.

Even some of the non-new stuff was a little obscure (i'm looking at you, Trimm Trabb). Plus acoustic-Parklife sucks :D

Don't get me wrong, I loved the performance, but I'm a massive fan. I always think they're better doing greatest hits sets. Throw in the odd obscure one - coping, chinese bombs, he thought of cars, whatever. But when you're doing a festival headline it should always be aimed at the non-obsessive.

Which is why i think their glastonbury set was about perfect  Just need to change it up a little for Hyde Park!

I think Think Tank's one of their best albums and gets overlooked because Coxon's not on it. Although yes, when you're headlining a festival, you should do a greatest hits set and throw in maybe one or two non-singles off your latest album, nothing more.

Love blur

I love the first album for it's shoegazey influences (although nowhere near the best example of the genre).

I love their cheesy poppy years as it's the sound of my childhood.

I love their two later albums (S/T and 13) as they are deeply influenced by much of the abrasive, sonic US indie rock I love.

Think Tank...well yeah...I never really tried that.

On hindsight, I really should of gone to these Hyde Park shows! O well...

strokes? they still going?brilliant debut, but another band nme hyped to death.

Blur's music has evolved from the mid-nineties cheeky-chappy Britpop which came to define them and I admit is their best stuff. But their later two albums, 13 and Think Tank, proved more than anything before that they're a very talented and creative band. If they had persisted with the mockney, jack-the-lad style on Parklife whilst reaching middle-age it would be a bit sad. Similar thing to the Manics. It would just be a bit of a joke if the Manics were still wearing eyeliner and skinny white jeans and playing GNR-influenced songs and singing about how we're all sluts, after all these years. :D

As for The Strokes. Yes, they were an NME-hyped band but that was back when NME bands were, ironically, the hope of modern music. Remember that if it wasn't for the success of The Strokes then we would be hearing about how cool Fred Durst was for saying "motherf**ker" a lot many years after. And again, The Strokes have evolved and matured from their original style which got them big. Listen to songs like Last Nite and Hard To Explain, and then listen to Vision Of Division and Ask Me Anything. A band that takes the risk of moving on from their original style which got them big in the first place are usually bands that retain success. That's why the likes of The Fratellis, The Kooks and The View are already fading back into obscurity while bands like Blur, The Strokes, the Manics, the Pumpkins and Foo Fighters are all still popular.

Just saw these in Hyde Park and can say beyond doubt that it was the best gig ive ever been to in my life.

Shame we don't have them at Reading, but i fulfilled a dream, nuff said.

Same setlist as the previous day, have a listen on absolute radio this sunday to hear the full set.

Support was terrible though. Deerhoof, wierd, florence and the machine, expected a little bit more, amadou and mariam, quite enjoyed raving africa africa africa to these. Vampire weekend, now not watrching them at reading they were just crap compared to how they should be.
