Squall Moogle
I was right at the front for blur and the stewards handing out water were a lifesaver. I was overloaded (with hat around my neck and bag), it was like a mad sauna, no room whatsoever and the frequent water kept me hydrated. I needed to get a sponge for washing up, I only had a £20 note which the shop couldn't change. The fella let me take it away for free, I came back later and gave the shop the 50p I owed. There was a guy really out of it who was looking for his friends on the first night. He asked us where he was and went on his way, we looked away for a moment and he ended up falling into the ditch by us in kinda comic fashion. I helped him out then along the awkward pathway, I remember him saying, "I'm a dentist, I shouldn't really get like this". Myself and my gf were planning to scavenge among the abandoned stuff on the Monday. We did this but made sure that all our finds were definitely left behind. Two of our neighbours overheard us, one of them told us we could take his tent (he just took everything and left it) and the other packed up his tent on sunday and left it for us in the bag . Ponyegg
Sunday night, watching Echo & The Bunnymen from outside the :Peel tent. It was dark and the end of the festival was in sight (you know that feeling). Having discovered the previous evening a talent for making glow-stick based butterflies I built one and popped over and gave it to a random mum with her child. After Mr echo finished she left and popped by saying it had really cheered her up.
Laura303
thanks to the two girls who were willing to let me use their phone when I had lost my brother and the tent, thankfully he heard my voice and popped up from among the sea of tents . Also to the guys who let me in the front at Prodigy
kpins
Whilst stuck in an 11 mile queue on the Wed a local came up to our car and told us an amazing shortcut that led us to the festival gates (bit of a hairy drive though!). Iwould share this shortcut but I'm saving it for next year. So her kindness hasn't rubbed off on me I'm afraid!
grandadcollective
Nice young lad at the Other gave me a rollie during Bon Ivor when I was struggling a bit and a very nice man camped next to us Gave us his surplus water every time he went to fill up. ShadyBlueBell
We all know that when you get 170,000 people into the space the size of a Fiat Uno you're bound to get some knobheads. There's a few posts been made about the thievin, scummy, mashed, gazebospace fookers etc - so how about a thread to balance it all out. Were you on the receiving end of a random act of kindness? Something that was completely unexpected but left you thinkin "WOW - cheers dude"? My Glasto kicked off with a 70-odd mile detour cos the M4 was shut - so arrived later than expected and in car park E9 - with a longish trek to where we wanted to camp. C'est la vie - sh1te happens AND we have our sooperdooper, 4 wheel trolley that carries everything and that's served us for the last 3 Glasto's - so we load up and off we trek. Just before the big drop down to Gate C, a fookin wheel drops of the trolley. Completely knackered and no chance of a repair! Bugger - I'm not so smug anymore! I have visions of 15 there and back treks and a heart attack to follow. 1st RAofK - the geezer who saw me n the missue strugglin to get down the hill with the 3 legged trolley -he grabbed one side of it and helped us manhandle 1/2 ton of kit (well, it felt like it) to gate C. He even offered to help us once we got inside - but I didn't want to take the p1zz, so I thanked him and he went off. 2nd RAofK - a marshall at gate C who saw us struggling to shift the trolley and got us in to the site with minimum fuss and helped shove the trolley to a safe place too. Top bloke. 3rd not so much random - more a god-send. I found a motorised tricycle taxi-bloke - it cost me dosh to load his flatbed with our kit (inc. my daughter!) but it was bloody worth it! End result was we got to pitch where we needed - and after a cool beer or two was feeling pretty chilled after what could've been a disaster! So a big thanks to those who helped us. The trolley's now gone to the big trolley-recycling yard in the sky - it served us well So - what's you're tale of receiving (or giving) a random act of kindness? sisterofmercy
My boyfriend thought it would be a good idea to get one of those pop up tents for Glastonbury this year and so putting it up was not a problem in the slightest- until it came to getting the bloody thing back in the bag again. He'd been trying to twist it back into the bag for about 15 minutes when a couple who were camping near us offered to help as they'd had experience with pop up tents. The woman tried for nearly an hour to help us get the tent back in, but to no avail. So not only did she continue to help, but she also went to scout out another person who had the same make of tent as his in our camping field. Becuase of her, he now knows how to take the tent down properly, and she wouldn't even accept a coffee in way of a thank you. So thank you ever so much to that lady, was a godsend. dixietheduck
Two things stood out for me (seem little now, didn't seem little at the time): - On the walk back to South Park from the Pyramid stage after Bruce had finished, in agony because of my poorly kidneys, I stopped by the fruit stand (I think it was by the bandstand..) for an orange juice, I handed over my £2 to the fruit man, who promptly handed it back to me. I was very grateful of that drink. I went back the next day but he wasn't there - Secondly, all the people that looked after my things at stages while I nipped off to the loo/bar, I was on my own for most of the festival (different tastes to most of my friends) and it saved so much hassle not having to carry everything with me all of the time. Especially the people who covered up my chair while I was gone and it was raining (don't worry chair haters..I was right at the back :-) )
rabid
Greenfairy and I were sat at the Stone Circle in the early hours of, erm, some morning with a small fire going and a couple of young girls had joined us chatting among themselves about terrible relationship problems. A random woman walks by and asks us if we wanted a packet of marshmallows - yes, obviously. She disappeared off into the darkness leaving us with a pack and a handfull of wooden skewers. They were consumed with almost orgasmic pleasure. Frightened the girls a little I think.
miniand
A friend dropped £80 where we were sat near the brothers bar when he went to the loo, we didn't see it but a couple of girls picked it up and handed it to us, they could have easily pocketed it if they'd wanted. So thanks girls
joebingo
What a lovely thread! I met a few really nice people at Madness having lost all of my friends on the Sunday. There were some really cool guys who gave me a cider. Made the gig for me, so to Aiden (if that's how your name is spelt?) and his friends who I met during Madness by the 2 trees in the pyramid field, thanks for the beer and the company, and of course for sharing an amazing gig with me! Other than that though, I have to say that everybody I met over the festi, was a fantastic person. I love Glasto Edited July 5, 2009 by joebingo

Walter Sobchak
I found an expensive blackberry phone in the services(found the owner and gave it back) on the way. Our group got no good karma from it, mate had wallet stolen from tent and got ripped off by 2 dealers! I now don't believe in karma!

Aaaah - my friend just forwarded a link to this post and I think that was me - thank you so much! If so it was near Pedestrian Gate D... (my friends took a brief window of opportunity the following day before I got bang on it again to tell me to always head to Pedestrian Gate D where they would kindly collect me). I got back that night thanks to your help - and I still have a rather large bruise on my waist but other than that I'm fine...Thanks again!!! Pipine
I sneezed and a guy dressed as Jesus rushed up to me and said "bless you".. LOL! I wonder if he performed any miracles or he was mainly into blessing people with hayfever!
