bella1977
I saw more police than ever before, walked along the top of the pyramid along the edge of camping sunday aft and saw eight, and another four walking down the hill, not a problem for me but wondered why the change. Every credit to the mounted police in fairy wings and tutu's. Saying that it was my most civilised festival yet, so maybe it was just the fact I could see properly that I noticed more.......and more to the point what the hell was I doing counting police, get a grip woman! Spindles
The fact that most of the police were happy to chat with punters like punters, smiling happily and very friendly was great, not a stab at those that weren't, they were there to work after all. Happy to say that this festival has helped improve my impression of the police.
cejx
FUNNY, when we got onto the site on the wed, we all commented that we hadn't seen a single copper, no searches no nuffink. Then when on site, there were the police on horses (complete with bunny ears), police trying on funny hats in stalls (I had my photo taken with them) and the 3 bobbies we had a right proper dance with during Madness! I think that the Rozzers were great this year. They've got the best gig, they pitched it perfectly, and the only time I saw them do any 'real' work was when they chased 2 dealers off the stone circle. Incidentally, we had an American in our group, and apparently in the USA if you so much as touch a whisker on a police horse... you'll be arrested... whereas at Glasters, they were quite happy to be stroked and mollycoddled. pman
The thing I cannot grasp is now the police are alllowed onto the site & they seem to be pretty chilled about what goes on, they know people are cained but they cant arrest everyone smokin a J. What is the need for all the meatheads who as far as I can see add nothing to the fest apart from i'll feeling & resentment from the many thousands of people they piss off over the course of the weekend. I dont think i have ever seen a thread where peeps have said how good & helpful it was having those security teams!!! I think it should be normal fest stewards for all gates & searches with a copper or two on hand if anything needs sorting & the meatheads to drive their landys round the fence looking for jumpers. There is no need for them inside the fence we managed before & with the fence im sure we dont need them now. I would rather have more police than dunbassmeatheadsareus security. P. Phil_S
I read in a local paper (Western Daily Press) that the police had a more hands on presence this year working in the festival rather than being on the outskirts. Certainly around the pyramid & the camping areas near by there was an increased presence. I thought they did really well, entered into the spirit of things & not looking for arrests etc.

pman
It wouldn't achieve anything arresting/cautioning/whatever everyone who was doing drugs. It'd just piss people off and take the whole mood down.. Simple maths anyway.... You can take 200 punters out, or 2 dealers....
scaryclaireyfairy
i think the only time i ever see smiley, approachable police is when i'm at glasto. does my heart good, so it does.
