I like a smoke when at a festival, never had this problem at glasto after been going for 20 years !! Thursday morn 3am me and my wife + mates decided to go back into the festival for food. Got to the entrance where security stopped us , no probs i thought, we had no glass or weapons on us !

Next thing the guy finds my weed bag and searches through it, goes to get his boss and my bag was gone !!! It contained my roller 3 bags, papers, boss returns with my bag now completely empty and tells me to have a nice festival. I got no receipt and complained for at least an hour but who else could i complain to at the time. I would,nt have minded at all if it was the police who took it, who are these people ???

If i was drunk or being an idiot, shouting and carrying on ok, they also took my 2 mates gear, our age range is from 40 to 55 so we where no threat to anyone at all !! I also witnessed them grabbing some bloke and chucking him in the back of a van to chuck him out of the festival completely, everytime we went through people were being searched even looking through wallets and purses !!

It was all we could talk about the whole weekend, though we made sure it did,nt spoil the festival for us.

And a big THANK YOU to all the peeps who were kind enough to give us some o there smoke !!

Brill weekend apart from those *******s !

it seems like they have been asked to be more thorough with searches.

I entered to the fesival via gate c on weds night and whilst there were people with their bags being searched we just strolled up to staff/crew wristbands and then wandered straight on to the site.

Luckily as we were camped inside the gates we didnt need to keep re - entering the site. I guess everyone should now learn to hide thier stash a bit better. It's a shame things have got this way but it's the best option if you want to protect your 'belongings'

Drugs are illegal. The Security have probably been instructed to take anything illegal. Sure Michael Eavis himself use to go round the festival taking peoples drugs and destroying them. Its illegal, no two ways about it. Drugs are for mugs

Dave F, from Accy??

just wondering....................................

Also got text from friend staying inside the gate that security seized their stash on the Sunday night.

The Shings - no one is saying that drugs are not illegal, it is the change in attitude by security that is being discussed, particularly relevant for the people staying in campervans, as they enter/exit the festival site each day.

Bad luck Dave.

I was staying in the campervan field too, so was in and out more than normal.

The Police enforecement and security have been getting stricter every year as part of the festival license agreement. I'm local so hear about stuff in the local news on the run up to the festival.

But I didn't think it would be as strict as it was.

I was searched once on the way in, including my wallet. But they didn't find anything ;-)

Years back there were people on the main drags touting their wears like market traders.

I can see why the Police insisted on a crack down on that for the license, but a bit of persy?!

But if that's what the security have been asked to do...then that's what they'll do...remember to stash well...

i got searched EVERY single time I went through the campervan gate both going in and out, and even twice in five minutes when I'd forgotten something. Every single thing including batteries in torch removed and searched

end of the day i would rather security take my weed and accessories to use it than hand you over to the police and get a criminal record...i found security on the whole to be much better than other festivals and much more personable and freindly than anywhere else ive ever been....

u know your taking a risk bringing drugs to glasto..regardless how good or soft they are they are still illegal...just cos you walk into a feild doesnt mean law doesnt apply....

hope u have better luck next time...hide it in ur bra/boxers if ur a wo/man

i can only think he thought I'd gone back to get something illegal - either that or he just really liked me.
