baldrick
Anyone stay in one of these pre-erected tents this year? How far from the pedestrian gate? What's the atmosphere like? Queuing situation for getting in on Wednesday and away on Monday? Value for money? etc. Might be going on own next year so looking at options.... Thanks! bunchy
I went on my own this year and had the best time ever in all the years I've been going!! The only downside was having to carry all my stuff on my own, so next year I might opt for this tent village so I will only need a few things like clothes & booze (depends on the reviews though). I will definitely be going alone again next year and I cannot wait!! I took a pop up tent this year but it was soooo bloody small by the time I got my bed & rucksack in there was no space. So it will either be a bigger pop up or the tent village for me so I am very interested in what people thought of it too.

vog
Its not far from a pedestrian gate as there was one specially for ###### ...... however .... to get to the site you had to walk the hill of death! Man,it was seriously steep and badly lit! Not having to carry stuff for miles was good - however, as it was the first year of them doing this - water kept running out, there were problems with the toilets - running out of water, not flushing, lots of niggling little problems. Not sure if i'm going to camp there again next year as it was very expensive. No atmosphere really - the hill of death meant that most people, I think, did what we did and didn't return to the tents till they needed to sleep! Having said all that the guy running it seems to be taking on board all the comments people were making - I'll decide nearer the time as I may be going on my own next year. strolling wanderer
Ok the original Hill of Death is outside of Ped Gate C on the way to the Caravan and Campervan fields. The ###### tent area was outside the superfence above Kings Meadow / Stone Circle and they had their own gate access which was called Pennard Gate. The route was very steep and really only for those who were reasonably fit. Not sure how easy/difficult this route would be if there was a deluge like in 2005 or 2007. baldrick
Thanks for the info everyone. Sounds good to me overall. Didn't return to the tent very much this year and we were in Kidney Mead so easy to go back to if I'd wanted. So I don't think it would be too much of a pain to do the hill once each way a day, except if it really rained, and the other benefits would seem to more than compensate, especially not having to do that very long trek from car to camp up and down the hill of death at PGC on arrival and departure! But from looking at their website it seems they only had 200 tents this year? So perhaps it will be as difficult to get one of these as getting a ticket in the first place! I don't think I'll be telling anyone else about ######.....
bazzer
The entrance to the festival is above the Tipi field - the green area on the Fine Guide map - so separate from Kimgs Meadow We sat up there a couple of times - there is a hill from the tipis to the gate - tough even for security 4x4's in the dry. They would usually drop security people by the top of the Tipi field to walk up ... slowly. Once through the gate there was a very steep path through woods which would be inaccessible if disabled and pretty tough ?impossible in the wet/mud
