What's amazing is to see the festival site now.

Take a look at http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/news/site-snaps-14

The clean up teams have done an astonishing job.

That shouldn't ease the conscience of anyone who left litter behind but may offer reassurance to those who've said they won't come again because of the mess afterwards.

Felt overwhelmingly guilty about what I left there (I binned everything but left my bin bag where it was) and that I didn't divide up the recycling from the other rubbish, and that was only as I left the campsite. Seeing that video really hammers home the point- I will make much more of a point of clearing up my shit next year.

People were willing to shit in a bucket but not in the long drops? Its just a bigger version of the bucket.............lol

We had a lot and i mean a lot of mess (rubbish not shit) at our camp but it was all in a pile..................they werent handing out bin bags/recycling bags on entry like last year so we just had to pile it up.

Having received anecdotal information from an American friend who attended Bonnaroo (a similar festival in Louisiana, with 80,000 ticket holders), that Bonnaroo generated nowhere near the mess that was left behind at Glastonbury, it might be worth while finding out what they do differently.

Think you misread my post - My point is that there are people who don't give a f**k that any other festival goer doesn't want to live in a shitheap because essentially they don't give a f**k about anyone around them. These are the selfish f**ks that leave their shit everywhere.

now i find it disgusting not at the tents but the rubbish..there are loads of big bags available, infact they even give you a few at the gate, how hard would it be,....i only left towels, sleeping bag, pillows and wellies behind...but i went to the information stalls to find out wheres the best place to put them...ten minutes effort t save some poor sod having to waste it, hopefully what i got has gone to some charity

well, unlike you, i dont live in england or scotland or wales...

i bought stuff online at the festival for pick up...

there were various set down areas in the place for unwanted goods, at least i made the effort to find them...

my baggage allowance on easyjet is shite only 20 kgs, and i carried the tent home, so there was no room for it...

my festival i dare say costs about 120 quid more in just travel...

im not going to justify leaving stuff i bought at the festival knowing i wouldnt bring it back home...by at least giving them in at the points they can be re used ...

how is leaving it at a charity shop different than leaving it at a set down place which will do the exact same thing...and get whatever sod who has to deal with it a free ticket?

i am not saying this is right so don't pounce...

But I think part of the reason that so much gets left behind is that people are desperate to get to the car parks as quickly as possible in order to try and get out before the mayhem starts!! which means one trip, and stupidly early after a heavy night. Mates of ours got to the car parks at 6am after about 3 hours kip and had to sit in their car for 6 hours!

This year didnt help as it absoluetly launched it down around 5.30 when people were packing up.

its not an excuse but I think this does contribute to the amount of crap left behind.

I threw out all my rubbish into the correct bins as I do every year but wasn't there a drive last year for people to leave their tents onsite for recycling purposes? I left my tent behind because of this... ???

Also I think it's a bit OTT the way people are going on in here! :P there is no excuse for littering and I always clear up after myself but people saying they won't be coming back?? Laughable!! :P

first time ive seen this thread and vid cannot believe it, all it needs is little poverty stricken kids rummaging through all the rubbish and you would think it was a scene from the slums of calcutta or other poverty ridden 3rd world countries etc.

i dunno how glasto arrange the clean up but would luv to stay behind for a week or so and help with the clean up this vid does make me sick.

anyone know how the clean up is sorted? im up for for doing this
