ChocolateRowlo
Right.... As this is my first festival, i won't have a clue where the best place is to stand... There will be a 12 year old girl with us as well But if that didn't matter, would the VERY front row be the best place to be? Personally I think it seems a bit better to be a bit further back? So you're not as crushed and you can see the whole stage? What do people think? Thanks
thetime
I would sugggest gettign nr the front of the main stage earlier in the day and then coming out. it will get a bit rowdy during oasis and might be a bit to much for the 12yo and she may panic if she hasnt been in the situation before. or even nr front at the sides of stage as the rowdiness will be in the centre. but remember with a big crowd and being nr front will take a bit to go back for drinks/toilet etc etc.

ChocolateRowlo
Well we're going sunday at Weston... And I think we're going to stay around the Main stage for the majority of the day tbh the bands don't look too heavy or rough so it should all be good For the Killers, if i'm going to wander off, is the very front row the best for atmosphere and experience? I doubt you can jump around and see the whole stage though =/

staffsknot
Down the sides is a good idea but there's also a good view from the disabled area right at the back and you can stick your kid on your shoulders without them becoming target practice (yep there's bound to be one who'd chuck stuff at a kid)! If you want to go down the front then first two acts should be fine then work your way back. Also you need to be somewhere you can meet up if you take the kid to the toilet, otherwise you will be separated for a long while.
heavenly271
we were 2nd row from front for the killers 2 years back. If you go in say the first 10 rows you can expect an awful lot of pushing and shoving as people lunge for the front. Theres no nicetys about it either if they wanna get to the front then its elbows and shoving all the way and a 12yr old would get a face full of it. Remeber a lot of people are often drunk at this point so they dont care as much. We saw an awful lot of people fainting and being dragged to the stage as it got so hot and security were giving out water to people in the first few rows. That being said dont get me wrong I had an awesome time but then it was only me and my fella so we didnt have anyone to worry about. I'd say your best bet is slightly to the left or right side or try and get in front of the control tower thing in the middle. We always stand in front of tower if we can help it as you get an awesome view and sometimes just sometimes security will let you sit on the fence behind which gives you an awesome view. It also means you wont get pushed or shoved around. hth
bekimo
I cant believe your even considering taking a 12 year old to the front! Honestly, I come out battered and bruised when I'm anywhere near the front. I've people trying to drag their offspring into the crush before only for the child to end up panicking and thus spoiling the fun for both parent and child!! In 2007, we stood quite far back for the Killers because my cousin gets really panicky in crushes. It was still packed, but we had enough room to breathe. Which was a bonus. And the big screens mean that even if the band look tiny, you can still see the action!!

tom taylor
I agree with you! I would never consider taking a child anywhere near the front. It can be bad enough for us adults, but a kid doesn't stand a chance and would never be able to see anything and just get completely squashed in the crowd. not nice! I would stand right back to be honest, where you can keep a close hand on the child and without getting trampled on. We stood a fair way back for Oasis a few years ago, on the hill bit and it was great as didn't get covered in certain liquids being thrown by sicko chavs and could still see fine. bekimo
When you say you stuck to the sides, do you mean like near the front at the sides? Or just anywhere that isn't the middle?
Flaminglippy
Could I suggest that when Lily Allen comes on you stand in a different postal area...you'll enjoy yourself much more

staffsknot
I'd prefer if her neckline and head were plunging towards the ground after she tripped on stage tbh, can't stand her
milo1
I think people are really brave to take kids!!! My 9 year old daughter has the right hump that I'm going to V as she wants to come to see The Killers! How do you find it taking a kid? Is it OK? Said I may take her next year! but then tbh maybe I'm a little selfish as I just don't think i would enjoy it as much if I had to worry about her as well
tomdsjames
I'd stay near the middle, you have still have a good view of the stage and can jump around but you're less likely to get pushed around as everyone will be trying to get to the front

shayy
Up until 14 i went with my mom and at 12 i remember her being all :| about where to stand i say NO to front i begged to go to the front and ended up crawling under peoples legs so she had to follow and as Faithless came on the crowd started tipping wasn't safe. Even with you there its not so we ended up going abit back i'd say middleish not too far.
