Alexx (:
Not a memory from V, but we were all discussing who we want to see last night and my mum asked "Where's Seaside Steve gone?" I think you had to be there to find it funny, but it really was at the time.
staffsknot
Seaside Steve , that sounds like his special half-brother from Weston-Super-Mare that reminds me of my dad calling Jill Dando - Jan Dildo and wondering why I'm laughing. Alexx (:
Watching my brother's freind and my cousin trying to hug people when covered in mud in the Lost Prophets crowd last year.
staffsknot
Another great memory for me back in 2000 was Oli, my dreadlocked uni housemate igniting his dreads on the gas stove trying to make a brew while half asleep on the Sunday morning (he has previous on setting things on fire in our student house). redmad1971
My memories of V last year were : getting so wasted that I don't have much memory of V last year, singing Chasing Rainbows and dancing badly to The Pogues.
echoechoecho
One of my favourite V moments EVER has got to be Snow Patrol performing Chasing Cars. Before he sang it, Gary Lightbody told the crowd that he was dedicating the song to Dave Grohl, because he said "Dave Grohl is the reason I wanted to be in a band, and now I'm playing on the same stage as him," cos the Foos were on after Snow Patrol. At the end of the song, Dave Grohl ran onto the stage and grabed Gary Lightbody, gave him a big kiss on the face. Gary fell to his knees with his head in his hands and there were quite a few big blokes in the crowd with shiny eyes... totally awesome Edited July 30, 2009 by echoechoecho

matty_boy
It was the year that the RHCP and the Foo's played. The Mrs wanted to go back to the tent to grab some pice of crap, just before the Foo's came on. I was telling her to hurry up as we both wanted to see them. Then all i could hear was........... DEN DEN......DE......DEN DEN. ALL MY LIFE. At that point i picked the wife up and we both ran at full pelt to the main stage. Life does not get any better. NikNik
That video of Foo's doing Everlong just took me back. Went to the festival dressed as a pirate and managed to aquire some black trench coat to go with the outfit and watched the end of Snow Patrol smashed with me m8s, only time I have ever enjoyed Snow Patrol. Then Foo's came on and was on my mates shoulders for the 1st 2 songs and was amazing. One of the best performances ive ever seen. Aswell, V 06 being pretty drunk (obvs for headliners) watching Radiohead with everyone and getting split up and being with a goth kinda m8 and a really camp m8. Ended up singing Creep with them both hugging massivly singing the end. Again one of the best performances ever and probably the most powerfull song ive ever heard live. V 08 memories would be The Hold Steady on the channel 4 stage when no1 knew who they were and them loving our group of people down the front as we loved them. Muse were unreal that day aswell but was the worst clash in the world for me as I would have loved to have seen Ian Brown, Prodigy and Richard Hawley. Also a t V 08 my mate got up at 7am on the sunday and started drinking before all the rest of us and was trashed by the time we got up at about 9am. He turned into the voice of reason just shouting 'you dont even KNOW' to everyone then the last thing we saw at a coat shop in the arena about 7pm being half sold a coat by the guy and him going 'so what if its a pound who gives a fuk?' and skipping away to Newton Faulkner singing Sponge Bob Square Pants. Also the same mate at V 06 slept outside his tent in a armchair in the pouring rain and didnt wake up till morning. Also at V 07 we got a massive inflatable phone the size of a person and was convinced he was talking to his parents on it and told us to all shut up. Memories of 05 would be being at the mainstage all day on the Saturday and hearing a bloke behind calling everyone in the crowd and on stage a fat mess and was a guy dressed as batman. The next day while waiting for Oasis he walked past us and we called him a fat mess and was so happy and confused how we knew. Also, waiting for Kaiser Cheifs to come onstage on the channel 4 stage and people throwing bottles at anyone who was on peoples shoulders, and someone putting up a Yoda with a lightsaber and he fought off all the bottles and we got a chant of 'Yoda Yoda Yoda' going on. Oasis 05 blew me away aswell. 1st festival and 1st time seeing Oasis. So many more, but all in all V festival is an amazing festival, lineup good or bad, it never disapoints for the value of good times had by all. niknik
plectrumknight
What a great thread: My highlights - Watching basement jaxx in 04, mashed out of my mind on my own as my friends were watching Dido! then getting lost on the way back and hitching a lift on the Stewards little buggy!! Friday night rain at Bar Bar Bar in 04 - with the wrestling as well Starting a party to a 5 track charlatans cd outside crazy tees!! Getting given a huuuuuuuuuge pile of bacardi poker chips by strangers for which each one allowed me to buy a mojito from bacardi bar! Hearing the streets sing a small part of dont look back in anger just before we got to see oasis perform Watching people mosh to girls aloud in 05! Double helping of Foo fighters in 07!! Watching dizzee rascal by accident as got times wrong, and loving every minute of it - then straight after, Ocean colour scene! Getting split up from my friends then bumping into each other just in time for the verve in the pouring rain
MOLLYJESS
this will be my third V this year - each year with hubby and friends and last year my nephews and their girlfriends came along too, which in itself always makes me smile - I am 42 and my nephews are 21 and 24, just loved the fact that they came with us - and are coming this year too!!! obviously didn't embarrass them too much!!! watching killers in 07 in the pouring rain and just never feeling so bloody happy - and my hubby smiling at me and saying "i've never seen you so happy"!!!!! watching Lenny Kravitz whip up the crowd in 2008 - my god that man is bloody fantastic, would definitely see him again any day. stereophonics 2008 - just as the sun was going down over chelmsford, what a great feeling, standing with my nephew and his girlfriend (we'd lost everyone else!!) and just loving the atmosphere. just before muse ended 2008 - walking up to the Xbox caravan which was playing Michael Jackson and "cutting some rug" with my nephew and then doing some top dancing to Dizzee and calvin - Dance wiv me, me and nephew sipping from one bottle of wine - brings back some lovely memories that will always stay with me. BUT!!!! my top memory HAS to be - the Verve 2008 - oh my god, I've said on here many times, if I could bottle the feeling I had while watching them - I would be happy each and every day!!! sitting on my hubby's shoulders for Bittersweet Symphony - (and even got on TV!!) - that will stay with me forever. Ooooooooohhhhhhh, now I am sooooo excited to go - thanks for startung this topic, it's just what we needed!!! looking forward to creating even more memories in 3 weeks time!! shayy
hahaa, i was 12 getting ready to watch faithless with my mom and friend and four girls tapped me on the shoulder and as i turned around they said 'sorry don't take this in any offence but by any chance are you a lesbian?' me being 12 had the face of someone who'd just been slapped then replied with ' no sorry erm i'm only 12' which of then my mum turned around and they replied with 'OH MY GOD WERE SO SORRY ITS JUST THAT YOUR GORGEOUS, are you going to tell us your her mom?' which then my mom obviously replied yes and that got into conversation with these girls and had a nice chat about me and sending me to the bar and how i looked a lot older. FUN FUN FUNNNNNN ;D My other was a man grabbing me as i walked through where people were having mud fights and looked at him with a glare and said 'you throw me in that mud i swear to god i will kill you' of which he let go and i walked on. Carpetburn
I got another one - V2002. Counting Crows were a band that largely passed me by in the nineties, but when I saw them at V I was mightily impressed. They started there set with "Round Here" Track 1 off Album 1 and you could tell straight away they were great musicians and stagecraft too. Still my favourite song of theirs, that and Sullivan Street and Rain in Baltimore. That was another "hairs on the back of your neck" moment I tell thee.
