Hia all, managed to get hold of tickets for Reading, never been before jus wonderin if you wd be able to answer a few queries about the festival. firstly on the ticket tracker it says the day is friday, is that when you can enter the festival (weekend camping) or can you go on the thursday? How far is the walk from the campsites to the arena? Is the main stage crowd split at all (other fests i've been to have had a front area with seperate enterances), and also to get to a decent area somewhere near the front of the crowd for a mainstage headliner how early would you reccomend going to the stage? Any other info / places to go or avoid when at Reading would be much appreciated, thanks, Dan.

Hey, with a weekend ticket, you can enter the campsite on the Thursday. If you bought a seperate early entry ticket, you can get in on the Wednesday (think they're all sold out now though).

Depends where you camp as to how long the walk is, the closest campsite is just like a 5 minute walk from the arena entrance I think. And the furthest is probably about half an hour.

I don't think the crowd is split at all, no.

For a mainstage headliner, I'd recommend getting there just before the previous act has finished. You always get alot of people leaving then and alot of shifting around, so you can dive in and get a good spot.

Also, I find that you can get a good posish near the front, if you walk down the side right to the front, and then attempt to go in sideways. You can get right to the front this way, and people will be more than willing to move, or help you along, as they'll want you to carry on going past them so you're not in their way.

Have fun!

you can go in as of 3am on the thursday i believe, but id wait for someone to confirm that, i couldve just made it up.

The walk is anywhere from a couple of minutes to 20/30-ish minutes at the furthest away, also the weather can make it take longer. If you get the earlyish on the thursday, youll probably be looking at a 5-10 minute walk i imagine.

the main stage is split up with a barrier like a quarter of the way from the front, as is the nme tent ibelieve.

i find if you watch the band before, you can usually get in a decent place. If you get towards the front for them, then alot of people will often leave to get drinks and such, leaving you with a good place for the next band. Obviously it depends wether we're talking about say, noah and the whale, or radiohead, but thats always my strategy , and it usually works well enough ;)

EDIT* you go to reading not leeds, this post is completely irrelevant
