We always manage to find a pub in Chelmsford open nice and early on the Friday. Last year the one we went to offered to knock up a breakfast for us, even though they didn't start serving food til 12. It was ace.

Ditto everyone else on the traffic, it varies so much! Last year it took me an hour from home to Weston, I live 30 miles away. In 2007 it took me TWELVE hours!!! Left home at 12 noon, arrived and put the tent up at midnight. I was not amused!!!

Live in Romford and we are leaving at 8am to go to Chelmo

last year we left felixstowe around half 10/11 and it was an utter nightmare. spent a lot of time on the A12 sat still and my brother and mate got pissed in the car and were getting out going and chatting to other people in other cars... took hours and hours, think we got there bout 3/4 in the end - its a 45 min trip on a normal day.

Earliest we can leave is 8am this year - doing the wise thing of not starting the festivities the night before for the first time - think it might make a difference!!
