well if Placebo do pull out and it is either Kasabian, Fallout Boy moving up or MCR I shall be going back to london to catch Subhumans instead of watching any of that offal! there wasn't anyone I wanted to watch after Placebo on friday but would be too late to catch that gig if Placebo are there.

No thanks. Enough of that sort of band already. If there's a replacement (I doubt there would be) I hope it's more aimed at the fans of the bands prior to that slot rather than those after it. MCR would do, and would, for all their failings, be better for the festival than kasabian or the cribs or any of the bands from the British indie scene.

lithium, you usually come across as an alright guy, but just shut the f**k up and keep your bloody opinion to yourself on this one. We get it, you don't lthe vast majority of indie bands bar the odd one who are presumably exempt to your common retort of "landfill indie", kasabian always get rave reviews at festivals, which can not be denied. Be better for the festival? what the f**k does that even mean? Honestly you're clutching at straws so much anymore it's not even funny. I can understand to an extent what you mean about indie landfill as i feel the courteeners are the most pointless band over, but then you come out and spew the same garbage about arctic monkeys, who have shown maturity over three albums and obviously have a lot more to them than smart arse lyrics and social commentary.

Just give it a rest and think, shit, i'm going to a festival and it's going to be f'n awesome. No point moaning about what if's. i'm with you 100% that the festival could've done with some upbeat bands like reel big fish early on but there's still around 20 bands i want to catch over the weekend, provided i drag myself from the alternative tent (comedy at a festival is so under rated!).

I tihnk hes making a point that it would be very unfair to replace Placebo, a band with a big followed from the "rock" based audience, with Kasabian, one with much less cross over appeal. When people are complaining about the lack of "heavier" bands, its hardly fair to replace one with Kasabian. I like Kasabian, and i agree with Lithiums point.

i can see that, but i don't see how mcr would make matters better, which was being argued. I'm a big fan of both bands, but mcr's audience are nothing like placebo's audience. Anyway it's all hypothetical as realistically speaking, neither mcr or kasabian would play third, and even more realistically speaking, fr won't replace placebo with a band of equal size, never happens (before anyone suggests, offspring isn't an option, playing at rock en seine).
