Hurricane bill

From the website - "You may remember that a few days ago we were talking about Hurricane Bill - a pretty strong hurricane out over the Atlantic which is set to track close to Bermuda and perhaps hit Nova Scotia over the next few days, before heading eastwards towards Britain and Ireland.

Obviously as it tracks across the cooler waters of the North Atlantic, then the storm will weaken, but it is something we will be watching carefully over the coming days, with the remnants likely to affect northern and western areas in particular around the middle of next week.

Back to here and now, and today sees a mixture of sunshine and showers with a cooler and fresher west/south-westerly airflow across Britain and Ireland. Some of the showers will be heavy, perhaps with a rumble of thunder, and will be most frequent across northern and western areas. The best of the sunshine on offer is likely to be towards north-eastern areas of England, but even here an odd shower cannot be ruled out. Temperatures will be close to normal for many areas, and feeling much fresher across south-eastern parts after the warmth of recent days.

A dry and cool night tonight will then give way to a mainly fine Saturday in many areas, although cloud and rain will move into the west later. This rain hangs around in the west on Sunday, with some locally heavy rain likely, whilst the southeast turns fine and very warm as warmer air moves up from the south once again."

Fingers crossed this will pass without too much trouble but it's definitely a bit of a concern.

The upstairs bathroom window was open in my house tonight and there was a gale strong enough that it went all the way downstairs slamming the lounge door shut...ie. It was a hell of a gale.

Faced with a choice (at Leeds) I think I'd rather have last years weather as opposed to horrendous winds :|
