pigshair123
Pearl Jam headlined in 2006 not 2007 foolssssssssssssssssssss
petrol face
Well its certainly true in Pearl Jam's case. Anyone who was at Pearl Jam's headline set in 2007 knows it was a special moment in the history of Reading and Pearl Jam. The others i'm guessing, but i know i'm right (Grohl and Homme say its the best festival crowd in the world, that's fact). Its all about Reading for the bands. Its older, larger, more famous, more history. Did Nirvana give one of the greatest festival performances of all time at Leeds? No! Because it didn't exist. It was only created as a marketing gimmick for mean fiddler and Carling. And i bet you KoL wouldn't have cared as much if they had nailed their Reading performance but messed up their Leeds gig. To be honest though i think the difference is when the Reading crowd gives love then there's little to rival it (e.g. bringing Vedder to tears), but they're also not scared to tell a band when they're crap or plain old not wanted. Leeds just sat back and left fifty cents feed them his pathetic gangster rap. Reading pelted him with hate until he got off their stage. A band has to earn the respect of the crowd at Reading. There's only one group in charge at Reading as KoL found out on Friday, and that's the punters, and that's how it should be. (BTW, i've been to both Leeds and Reading, Leeds is great but there's no mistaking which one the bands care more about)

JBarbour
you guys do know leeds festival was around before mean fiddler took over and decided to partner the site with reading? like I said earlier some bands will like one site to the other. but that could change from one year too the next as the crowd and atmosphere can/will change. everyone goes to a festival to enjoy themselves do they not? the bands are paid to entertain the crowd, why would they purposely put more effort into one site rather than other. only the band will lose out on record sales or reputation. some things are out of the bands control like sound quality or crowds
VCK
i'm pretty sure if something is unpopular that makes it cool though....right? and conversely if something is popular than it becomes uncool....right?
NikNik
I enjoyed the set as Havent seen Kings since end of last year and really like all the stuff theyve done. Last album is me least fav but is the best album in the dishwater of stadium albums released in the last how many years. I thought Caleb was spot on slagging the crowd off with all the morons only knowing 2 songs. It seems to be a general look over the festival that I saw arctic monkeys, radiohead and kings of leon and there were so many people there watching the bands just to say they saw the band. With people talking all the way threw radiohead and walking off, same as arctics cuz they did new stuff, and more people being motionless. Apparently the leeds crowd was better as i imagine it was mainly women down the front wanting to hear sex on fire. Caleb looked so pissed off on the highlights when he had to play it. Really hope they come back with a heavier, bluesey album and dont play sex on fire on the next tour. Think they are a great band and with sound problems, the wrong following and whatsoever meant people didnt enjoy their set, i really enjoyed it as had mates around me who love all their stuff and will be seeing them again some time. niknik
PaulS9_
Quotes in this months FHM from kol...'It's the greastest feeling in the world to win over a crowd who doesn't have any idea who you are' 'A lot of people only know us from our singles, but we can't afford to treat anyone differently. We still have to play great shows that everyone will love. And that's what we always plan to do'................. Hmmm Caleb, methinks someone may be getting a bit of an EGO!
