Friday

Alexisonfire Main stage (8/10) Very good start to the festival for me

New found glory (6/10) Ok performance

Funeral for a friend (9/10) Very good perfomance and the rain made it better.

Deftones (10/10) Biased cuase my fav band lol. Pit was brutal as f**k, 2 people got knocked out at the same time for the song Elite..

Alexisonfire lock up (9/10) Amazing even tho i had the biggest headache ever.

Kings of leon (5/10) Only good thing was the guitar solos, Mainstream crowd pissed me off and so did KOL

Saturday

Eagles of Death metal (7/10) Was a good fun band.

Enter Shikari (8/10) Amazing interraction with the crowd. Pit was HUGE and brutal as f**k.

Them crooked vultures (9/10) Jaw dropping shit, i think i creamed on the last song, with all the solos.

Prodigy (8/10) sound was shit... danced my ass off never the less.

Bring me the horizon (8/10) Enjoyed them, pit was a laugh and made friends in them

Sunday

Brand new (4/10) SHIT.

Gallows (9/10) Pit nearly killed me, cracked a tooth and cut my eyebrow but it was amazing. Frank seemed to have grown up and looked like he was glad to be there. He started crying becuase he was so underwhelmed.

Radiohead (9/10) Amazing. Superb. Jizz enducing.

FRIDAY

The Rakes - 5/10 - Were alright, could have been better if they were louder though.

Eagles Of Death Metal - 8/10 - As always, a good performance and were better than they were at Glastonbury.

Them Crooked Vultures - 7/10 - Nice surprise.

Ian Brown - 9/10 - The man is a legend and he did Fool's Gold!

Maximo Park - 7/10 - Put out a good performance.

Prodigy - 10/10 - Ridiculous.

Arctic Monkeys - 5/10 - Just didn't feel like how a festival headline set should have been.

SATURDAY

Lady Sovereign - 3/10 - Not my thing.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - 7/10 - Were pretty decent.

Bloc Party - 7/10 - Seemed better than last year (but not as great as 2007's performance)

Radiohead - 8/10 - I don't really like Radiohead but this was a good performance.

SUNDAY

Fall Out Boy - 5/10 - Looked a bit shit.

Placebo - 7/10 - Enjoyed them, Every You, Every Me was good and being in the pissing rain added to the atmosphere.

Kaiser Chiefs - 10/10 - Actually a brilliant performance. Both the band and crowd were really getting into it and whilst their songs are a bit cheesy, the singalong was great.

Kings Of Leon - 6/10 - Not a bad performance by any means but I expected so much better from them.

Reading:

FRIDAY:

Madina Lake: 5.5/10 (Caught last 3 songs, sounded ok)

Alexisonfire (MS): 6.5/10 (Poor sound from where I was spoilt it)

New Found Glory: 7.5/10 (Surprised, actually enjoyed them despite not liking on record)

Fall Out Boy: 7/10 (Average, good crowd from where I was situated though)

Placebo: 8/10 (Got to front, too many newer songs but thought were very good)

KOL: 5/10 (Got bored very fast)

Faith No More: 8.5/10 (Band of the day - So much better in the tent compared to seeing them at Download)

SATURDAY:

Fightstar: 7/10 (Enjoyable set. Thought backing vocals were a little too quiet)

A Wilhelm Scream: 10/10 (BAND OF WEEKEND!. Tight as hell! So talented. Even friends who have never heard of them are now asking me for their albums I own haha)

Enter Shikari: 9/10 (Was really up for playing the main stage and thought they did very well in open air)

Them Crooked Vultures: 8/10 (Enjoyed it, Grohl = immense as always but can't doubt Homme on vocals/guitar either.)

The Prodigy: 8.5/10 (One massive rave!... Too far back for my liking but everyone was still having it large!)

Rise Against: 8/10 (Felt a bit ill due to drink/dust now but again, enjoyed it!)

SUNDAY:

Deadmau5: 8.5/10 (So, so good!... Needed more time though!)

The Qemists: 7/10 (Loved Lost Weekend. Good sound live)

Chase & Status (DJ): 9.5/10 (Probably the craziest crowd i've ever been in at Reading... Awesome set)

Overall... very good but did miss a few bands who I wanted to see due to being hungry, at TESCO's etc...

Friday:

Manchester Orchestra - 8/10 - Good atmosphere and decent set, the keyboard guy is a legend.

Alexisonfire - 4/10 - Sound quality was terrible.

Fake Problems - 6/10 - They were pretty rad.

Funeral For a Friend - 4/10 - The power cut killed the crowd and sound quality.

Deftones - 9/10 - Awesome pits and sounded great where I was.

Placebo - 5/10 - Okay but didnt know many of the songs.

Alexisonfire (lock up) - 8/10 - much better sound quality and atmosphere

Billy Talent - 7/10 - Decent set but nothing mind blowing.

Saturday:

Fightstar - 6/10 - Solid set but nothing special.

Enter Shikari - 7/10 - Sound quality sucked and the dust ****ed me up.

Set Your Goals - 6/10 - Solid.

Rival Schools - 8/10 - Really good atmosphere, could tell the band loved playing Reading.

65daysofstatic - 9.5/10 - Not heard anything before but they were just amazing. Absolutely incredible.

Thursday - 8.5/10 - Good set, good crowd, the 'joke' at the start I enjoyed.

Rise Against - 6/10 - Average

Sunday

Frank Turner - 7/10 - Not as good on the bigger stage.

Brand New - 7/10 - Need the new album out as their sets are becoming too repetitive. Hopefully they'll play the tent next year.

Radiohead - 9.5/10 - Amazing set list, light show, atmosphere etc.

Worst show all weekend for me was my boss not letting me have Friday afternoon off.

FRIDAY

Bombay Bicycle Club 7.5/10 - they're not going to change anyone's life and it's been done before, but I enjoyed it anyway

Friendly Fires 7/10 - same

Jamie T 5/10 - only wanted to see FNM really but tried to watch this guy with an open mind and he was alright - pleasant surprise in that I got through the set without wanting to concrete my ears

Faith No More 9/10 - seriously good, surprised by the smallish crowd and the number of people who didn't know their music though

SATURDAY

Municipal Waste 7/10 - nice bit of old school thrash, good to find some metal somewhere in Reading, god knows it was thin on the ground this year

Patrick Wolf 8/10 - just for the OTT performance really, his music wasn't my thing

Snuff 8.5/10 - absolute legends

Them Crooked Vultures 10/10 - what can you say?

Rival Schools 7/10 - proper nostalgia trip for me, I loved United By Fate back in the day

You Me At Six 6/10 - not bad but it's been done a thousand times already on the other side of the Atlantic

The Maccabees 8/10 - seriously improved band, they really stepped up

The Bronx 6.5/10 - not bad but have seen them better

The Prodigy 7/10 - made me wish I'd got there earlier, crowd was mental

Glasvegas 5/10 - nowhere near as epic as they think they are, kind of felt sorry for them though, crowd was tiny for a co-headline set

Arctic Monkeys 7/10 - got there too late to find a decent spot, so gave up

Gossip 5/10 - one idea repeated over and over

SUNDAY

Kids In Glass Houses 7/10 - good tunes, cleared my hangover

Titus Andronicus 7/10 - prefer them on record

Noah and the Whale 5.5/10 - awww!

The XX 9/10 - I'd never heard them before, went on the back of the hype, and was totally smitten

The Joy Formidable 8.5/10 - surprise of the weekend for me, they really stepped up

Magistrates 6/10 - they were alright but I got restless

Metronomy 6/10 - not sure if it works as well in a live band setup

Grammatics 7/10 - kind of prefer them on record, still good though, dude has one seriously good voice

Goldheart Assembly 5/10 - alright indie/country thing

Vampire Weekend 6.5/10 - not really into them but it worked well with that slot and the atmosphere

The Gaslight Anthem 8/10 - always reliable, good as ever

Bloc Party 7/10 - much better than the last time I saw them in that slot

Radiohead 9/10 - amazing, would have been a 10 but I fell asleep on my feet and then kind of collapsed, which screwed things up for me a bit

(I haven't bothered listing the bands I only saw a few minutes of, and there were a couple of unknown bands on the BBC Introducing stage too)

Friday

Sonic Boom Six - 7/10 - Enjoyable enough, did nothing wrong and seemed happy to be there

Manchester Orchestra - 8/10 - Really good, managed to get loads of friends into them who hadn't heard of them before. Keyboardist was brilliant.

Alexisonfire (main stage) - 4/10 - Couldn't hear a thing.

New Found Glory - 7/10 - Good singalong, but again problems with sound fading in and out. Much preferred them 2 years ago in the Lock Up

Streetlight Manifesto - 10/10 - There was no chance I wasn't going to love this, but they were fantastic and the crowd was great.

The Aggrolites - 9/10 - Surprise of the weekend for me, hadn't heard a lot of them but they got everyone in the tent dancing and kept drawing in people from outside. Great fun.

Fall Out Boy - 6/10 - Pretty much as I expected.

Alexisonfire (Lock Up) - 9/10 - Fantastic. Great performance by them, the drummer is unbelievable.

Anti-Flag - 5/10 - Meh. Songs were good but they really ruin their shows for me by always talking politics between songs.

Faith No More - 7/10 - Would have really enjoyed it if I knew more songs. Still had a good time though. Easy, Epic and Midlife Crisis all in a row was incredible.

Saturday

Mariachi El Bronx - 8/10 - Perfect way to start the day chilling in the sun.

Snuff - 6/10 - Never heard of them before, was just sat outside but they seemed good.

Set Your Goals - 10/10 - Amazing. Like Streetlight the pit was great, everyone who was there was a real fan it seemed, singing and dancing away.

Mad Caddies - 8/10 - Was really looking forward to them. Not as great as they could have been, missed out a lot of old favourites, but still very good.

Rise Against - 5/10 - Disappointing. Played far too much new material and the old stuff they played seemed odd choices. No Like the Angel, Heaven Knows, Paper Wings etc.

Sunday

Frank Turner - 9/10 - Brilliant sing a long. The people there who didn't know him seemed to enjoy it.

Brand New - 3/10 - Biggest disappointment for me. Their albums are fantastic but it seemed a really dull performance, probably much more suited to a tent.

Vampire Weekend - 4/10 - Couldn't care less really.

Gaslight Anthem - 8/10 - Very solid performance by one of my favourite bands.

Lostprophets - 8/10 - Wasn't expecting to enjoy it so much but was really good fun. Last Train Home, Shinobi and Burn Burn were all amazing.

the view - 6/10 indie by numbers but the hits were good

gaslight anthem - 5/10 biggest disapoitnmet to me, dull.

gallows - 4.5/10 not my thing

aifi - 7/10 not my thing but still found the set fun

Alexisonfire - 5/10 were probably good, so ive been told, but the wind kept blowing the sound, i was near the sound desk and at one point i couldnt hear anything for about 2 seconds.

New Found Glory- 6/10 same problem, only i went a little nearer and it was slightly better. good setlist but disapointed there was no Situations.

Deftones - 9/10 so much better then when they played download in 2006. shame there was no Minerva though.

Alexisonfire - 7/10 better sound, but was annoyed they played practically the same setlist again.

Soulsavers w/ Mark Lanegan - 9/10 Awesome, deffo gunna check listen to them some more.

Faith No More - 10/10 sweet set, sweet sound, sweet show. Legends

Saturday

Mariachi El Bronx- 8/10 perfect band to start the day with a burrito in hand.

Eagles Of Death Metal - 7/10 Fun Set. Good times.

Them Crooked Vultures - 8/10 would be better if i knew the songs, but what i heard i liked, and it was a pleasure to see those awesome musicians in the tent.

The Bronx - 10/10 sweet set. awesome live band

Prodigy - 4/10 saw a bit of them, sounded like someone screaming over fart samples. am i the only person who thinks its tedious now?

Arctic Monkeys - 5/10 - didnt stay for whole set, was slightly underwhelmed by them, like the new album and was expecting a good show.

Sunday

Lethal Bizzle - 5/10 not as fun in the big tent, but tolerable

Frank Turner - 5/10 expected more, but was bit boring at times

Brendan Burns - 9/10 Hilarious

Lady Sovereign - 5/10 bit flat.

Vampire Weekend - 4/10 seemed like they were bored.

The Crystal Method - 6/10 not really my thing but watched a bit and nodded my head a few times

Gallows - 9/10 good setlist, good crowd, shit dust.

Lost Prophets - 6/10 looked crazy down at the front, but i grew out of this band years ago.

dissapointed i missed the qemists, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Rival Schools, Pulled Apart By Horses and Dannanakroyd, but oh well win some lose some.

Friday

Florence and The Machine - 10/10. Amazing. Her voice carried so well and she nailed every song. Great crowd interaction.

Friendly Fires - 8/10. Not a massive fan but really enjoyed them.

Jamie T - 7/10. Was enjoyable to watch but had to leave to see Kings of Leon... mistake.

Kings of Leon - 4/10. Calebs voice is still good but they were too slow and boring. Need to take time off and get over themselves.

Saturday

Enter Shikari - 8/10 Really good. Aside from the dust the mosh pits were savage and the crowd were really up for it. They looked like they were thoroughly enjoying themselves as well, which made it all the more fun.

Them Crooked Vultures - 9/10 Blew me away. They really appreciated the crowd and it was a special moment. Plus, Dave Grohl is a legend.

The Maccabees - 8/10. Enjoyable and i'm a big fan anyway. They went down the storm and the NME tent was pretty packed.

The Prodigy - 8/10. Sound wasn't carrying at first and it was too quiet so moved closer. Got closer and it was great.

Arctic Monkeys - 8/10. I guess that could be controversial but it was good to see them as i never have before. Only reason they haven't got a 9 or 10 is because they were so heavy on the new album and missed out 'Teddy Picker', 'A Certain Romance' and 'Dancing Shoes'. Loved the fact Alex Turner was having a good time up there and it made them fun to watch.

Sunday

Lethal Bizzle - 7/10. Not the best act there by any means but a lot of energy and a good crowd.

Frank Turner - 8/10. Good singalongs and he was really good up there.

Deadmau5 - 9/10. Quality.

Passion Pit - 6/10. They were on as we were getting some food so took a wander in. I only knew one song but i did enjoy that and the others weren't too bad.

Chase & Status - 10/10. MAD crowd. Unreal levels of energy. The tent got taken apart and they nailed it. The remixes of White Lies - Death and Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name were brilliant as well. Enjoyed them the most all weekend.

Friday

Tim Minchin- /10- Probably hilarious, but couldn't get anywhere near the tent, so had to give up on that idea.

Little Boots- 6/10- Only saw her because we didn't get into Tim Minchin, and was a little bass heavy at times, but got the crowd going, and seemed to be having a great time.

The Horrors- 7.5/10- Very good frontman, and the crowd went crazy. Unbelievabe how much their new album has changed my opinion of them.

Placebo- 6/10- A little bit too far back to really get into it, and the sound wasn't great.

Friendly Fires- 8/10- Find of the weekend. Had the album and thought it was ok, but the atmosphere for them was incredible.

Jamie T- 4/10- Not really my thing.

Faith No More- 9/10- Stunning. Mike Patton's an incredible vocalist, and Midlife Crisis was one of my highlights of the weekend.

Saturday- Missed a lot of stuff I wanted to see in the morning due to severe laziness.

Patrick Wolf- 5/10- Didn't really get into it, always rated him more on record than live.

Them Crooked Vultures- 9/10- Incredible.

The Prodigy- 8/10- Really enjoyed it. Very good crowd reaction, paticularly given our position way off to the left hand side.

Arctic Monkeys- 4/10- Did nothing to alter my opinion that they're not a good live band. Some of the Humbug stuff sounded alright, but I gave up halfway through and went back to my tent.

Sunday

Noah and the Whale- 7/10- Really good chilled out way to begin the day. New album sounds very promising, and was pleased they didn't play 5 years time.

Lethal Bizzle- 7/10- A real guilty pleasure. Got the crowd going and was very entertaining.

Frank Turner- 9/10- The 'circle jig' for Photosynthesis was brilliant. Converted a friend who didn't like him previously.

Vampire Weekend- 7/10- Slightly hazy memory as I'd had a few by this point, but weren't bad.

Yeah Yeah Yeah's- 6/10- Nothing wrong with them, but struggled with a very apathetic crowd.

Bloc Party- 7/10- Second half was considerably better than the first. Poor vocally, but quite enjoyed them nonetheless. Starting with So Here We Are was bizarre though.

Radiohead- 10/10- Everything I was expecting and more. Opening with Creep was a real curveball, and All I Need and Lucky were beautiful.
