goodlookinout
Heres my ratings for Reading - I'm gonna give the overall weekend a 9.9 / 10 cos I had so much fun all round..... Friday: Deftones - 9/10 sound was a little dodgy in parts but the set list was great and they put on a fab energetic performance. I went to the signing afterwards as well and was so happy to have met them lol! NFG - 4/10 crap sound marred this despite an ok set list Alexisonfire (main) - 4/10 - they were probably good but my mate talking was louder than them! Faith No More - 9/10 - awesome sound and awesome set! Enjoyed these :-) Alexisonfire Lock Up - 8/10 awesome atmosphere, sounded great and was a wicked performance Bouncing Souls - 5/10 boring! seen them to many times now and they get more average each time! Leftover Crack - 5/10 only watched a few songs before going to the deftones signing and they didn't do much for me. The singer seemed f**ked too! Streetlight Manifesto 7/10 - funny banter and a great tight sound. Would rate them higher if I knew more than the catch 22 songs they did. The Ghost Of A Thousand - 1/10 for showing up. Singer was a c**t. Shitty shitty version of snapcase and refused. The Plight - 7/10 - awesome and rocking start to the weekend Saturday: The Prodigy - 6/10 rating is mainly for the insane crown reaction. I was by the sound desk and it was going crazy. Sound was to quiet though and everyone was chanting "turn it up". Left the crowd during smack my bitch up to try and get a view of them and they was dancing right back to the gents toilets. Chaos!!! Ian Brown - 8/10 One of my highlights! I loved the rendition of Fools Gold and the crowd seemed on a good vibe where I was! Lots of dancing and love being spread :-) Mariachi El Bronx - 6/10 good fun start to the day! Crooked Vultures - 8/10 mainly for the occaision and the crowd vibe but the songs seemed decent enough and I wil defo pick up a record when it comes out! Rise Against - 6/10 I love Rise but was very drunk by this point and hot and crushed in the pit at the front! Thursday - 5/10 i caught a few songs and they seemed good but missed most of the set Snuff - 6/10 watched a few songs and it was a good crack! Municipal Waste - 8/10 Chaos! My friend came back from the pit covered in mud. Huge pit by the looks of things and saw people geting up the poles, santa on someones shoulders going round the circle pit high fiving people and some kid stage diving (then getting ejected) BEER PRESSURE!!! Wilhelm Scream - 8/10 so tight and talented! They looked like they were having the best time and I always like that in a band! Chuck Ragun - 8/10 some parts sent shivers down my spine! Polar Bear Club - 4/10 watched a few songs but was underwhelmed. Sunday: Broadway Calls - 5/10 - ok - pretty average! Noah and The Whale - 5/10 nice to lie down and chill out a bit to these guys while feeling very ill with sore feet! Brand New - 7/10 not great on the mainstage but still put on an intense performance and played a great set AFI - 8/10 - Davey looked cool as hell and the set was awesome. A Single Second was the highlight for me. Gallows - 7/10 great set, rowdy crowd, good sound and the band seemed genuinely humbled to be playing the show. Gaslight Anthem - 9/10 loved it :-) Crystal Castles 7/10- caught the end and thought it was good. Alice stagediving was class! Frank Turner 5/10 I was bored and my feet hurt :-p Bizzle - 7/10 I caught the end and the rating is for getting the crowd HYPED! Deadmau5 - 4/10 Rating is low as I didn't go in the tent. I was sat down near the fence for a bit resting my feet but the crowd seemed hyped and the tunes were nice. Gonna check some of his stuff out today. Das Pop - same as deadmau5. Caught the end of their set. The XX - 7.5/10 - caught the first half then went to Bizzle. The album is great and the set was a nice chilled vibe La Roux/Prophets/Radiohead - 7/10 - drifted between tents. LP's put on a good show and got the crowd going. I caught the last few songs. Radiohead sounded good but I was a bit to pissed up and fancied a little more rowdiness. The Crowd for La Roux was daft. Far to many people there and you couldn't move further than the bar when I got there. There were people pushing in and pushing out and people climbing on the bar to get a view - I thought f**k this and went to see the end of Prophets! micawber
Here we go for Reading: Friday Dananananakroyd 6/10 Loads of potential for the future. Great fun band. Good start. Manchester Orchestra 9/10 (includes extra 1 for keyboard player). Never cease to entertain. Headliner within next 5 years? The Flatliners 2/10 Name sums them up. Pretty generic in my opinion Alexisonfire 4/10 Not my cup of tea. Wholly predictable New Found Glory 5/10 Pretty average band. Never progressed Hugh Lennon 3/10 Seen one hypnotist, seen them all. The dog scraped him an extra half point A Place to Bury Strangers 6/10 Interesting. Wish I had caught the start of their set Deftones 3/10 I've tried. I really have. But I do like a bit of melody in my music Fight Like Apes 6/10 A little progression from last year. Still a fun band with great talent but need to do more Fall Out Boy 5/10 Does what it says on the tin, but murdered Don't Stop Believing Placebo 6/10 Contrary artists. Were never going to play greatest hits. Great musicians Anti-Flag 6/10 Always enjoy these boys, but no sign of improvement Faith No More 10/10 That's what we're talking about. Superb showman. Superb musicians 12 acts. More than I saw during the whole of Glasto. Not better quality overall, but great quantity and variety. Not all indie-landfall as some would have you believe. Saturday Fightstar 6/10 A much maligned band but actually not bad. Nice to see them survive the bottling from a few years back Detroit Social Club 5/10 I'm hearing Oasis. I'm hearing Kasabian. I'm hearing that it's all been done before Enter Shikari (Acoustic) 6/10 Hadn't realised that they were such a bunch of sweet innocent things Eagles of Death Metal 4/10 The joke wears thin The Chapman Family 5/10 Only caught the last 2 songs (This one's about killing children. I hope you like it). Wish I had seen more. Enter Shikari (Mainstage) 5/10 Did better on mainstage than I would have guessed. TCV 9/10 Fantastic guest slot. Looking forward to the CD. Shame about the Grohl idolization. He was very embarrassed about it. Quite right too. You Me At Six 4/10 Average band with some potential Mad Caddies 7/10 Enjoyable bunch of pros. Nice to get my ska fix White Lies 7/10 After hearing how dire people thought they were live, I was very surprised, Good show Prodigy 2/10 Pointless shouting at the crowd doesn't equal talent Bring Me The Horizon 3/10 Bring me the bucket. I wanna see the widest circle pit ever? Yeah? Well go and see another band Arctic Monkeys 4/10 Way over-hyped. Dull as dishwater. Caught an early night Sunday Spa Grand Prix 4/10 Just a procession after the first lap incidents Brand New 4/10 Good musicians, but do little with it. Almost zero charisma Vampire Weekend 5/10 A little different. Would do well to get to BSP heights The Gaslight Anthem 6/10 A little flat today compared to previous performances. Something was bugging him about Brand New. What was that all about Gallows 4/10 Minimal variety. I've heard it all before Bloc Party 7/10 Extra point for promising not to come back again next year Radiohead 9/10 Great energetic performance. Thanks for the quality and ensuring that fashionistas left in their droves
Jarvisonfire
Friday Marmaduke Duke 8/10 enjoyable set. well worth ditching all my friends for Anti-Flag 6/10 better than i thought Alexisonfire (Lock Up Stage) 8/10 Awesome performance Placebo 9/10 Always wanted to see placebo and they didn't disappoint me (would have been a 10 if they played more classics) Fall Out Boy 3/10 Really enjoyed Sugar... went downhill from there The Horrors 8/10 My opinion of this band has changed dramatically over the last 12 months, works well live. Funeral For A Friend 3/10 Really like a few of their studio albums but just didn't rate them at all on stage...shame New Found Glory 9/10 Awesome, really didn't expect to enjoy them that much Alexisonfire (Main Stage) 5/10 V.Poor sound from where we were and it just seemed too much like a warm up for later on. The Ghost Of A Thousand 6/10 V. Good but nowhere near as good as when i seen them a month ago. Dananananaykroyd 7/10 Nice way to start the festival would like to see them again in a small venue. Saturday Rise Against 6/10 when it worked it worked well, but there were a few points where i stood bored. The Prodigy 9/10 awesome (Even if i got crushed and have more than a few scars to show from it) Maximo Park 8/10 Really enjoyable set Them Crooked Vultures 9/10 I'm not gonna judge them as a band just yet....but if that performance is anything to go by, then they'll be amazing Enter Shikari 9/10 Municipal Waste 6/10 The Rakes 4/10 All the songs from first album i liked, other songs played live won't convince me check them out any further Fightstar 8/10 really didn't think they'd be good that early on main stage, proven wrong i guess Sunday Radiohead 9/10 again abandoning my friends proved worthwhile the sense of shock when they started playing creep will last a while Gallows 8/10 will probably catch them on their next tour now The Gaslight Anthem 7/10 Crystal Castles 4/10 never been a fan, mind The Qemists 5/10 Frank Turner 8.5/10 Really enjoyed it (and the following Introducing set) Lethal Bizzle 8/10 I'm shocked at how much i enjoyed it tbf In Case Of Fire 7/10 Good performance, (even if the tent was a bit dead ) Edited September 1, 2009 by Jarvisonfire
inspectedinspector
Reading. Friday - I was working until 4 so missed a few bands I wanted to check out, but nothing major. Deftones - 9/10 kicked some ass, the moshpit was mental, however needed much more time. They were on fire the night before in London just to add Placebo - 5/10 ultimate meh. Way too much new stuff. Faith No More - 9/10 I'm really glad they were in the tent, I thought it worked well, great banter only thing I would have asked for would be a few more songs I knew.. Black Lips - 5/10 - I was expecting a highly energetic show and a big party... apparently not. Soulsavers - 8/10 - really good, completly suited my mood at the time. Saturday The Prodigy - 8/10 - really good, by the sounds of it I was in a perfect position, good enough to feel the atmosphere, but not bad enough to be crushed Ian Brown - 8/10 - I wasn't planning to see him at all and don't know his stuff very well, but I really enjoyed sitting back in the sun to him and his band. Eagles of Death Metal - 5/10 - not really a fan Fightstar - 4/10 - I have no idea why I saw them... possibly drunk Glasvegas - 9/10 - thought they were brilliant and genuinely thankful to fans for getting them there Them Crooked Vultures - 5/10 I know people aren't going to like me saying this, but I felt a very similar feeling to RHCP in 2007, bored, it should have been sooo much better for who they were. most dissapointing thing those guys have ever done imo. Dinasour Pileup - 8/10 - I only saw 2 songs, wish I woke up eralier Rise Against - 8/10 - had to leave early, but thought they started strong Polar Bear Club - 7/10 - decent enough Our Fold - 9/10 - Brilliant, I hope they breakthrough Sunday Radiohead - 9/10 - solid stuff, I was just too knackered, plus some people in crowds really need to learn how to sing! Bloc Party - 9/10, best time I've seen them out of 4, good setlist! Yeah Yeah Yeahs - 9/10, to be perfectly honest I was quite drunk at this point but remembered having a good time Brand New - 4/10 I'm a big fan and just wasn't entertained Plus that Gasoline song is gash! The Living End - 7/10 good, but not as good as the lock up 2 years ago Noah and the Whale - 7/10, wasn't planning to see these but it was good to sit down to Frank Turner - 8/10 - since when has he had 50,000 fans?!?!? I was so shocked at this! It was okay I guess I think I was in shock... and still am The Crystal Method - 8/10, just sat outside the tent eating lettuce and sounded brilliant The XX - 7/10 good enough I've been to Reading 3 times now and this was the time I've enjoyed it most, even though no bands were amazing for me, I think it was probably the company

Lithium05
Friday New Found Glory - 7/10 - not bad, but a bit too quiet. Good set though. Streetlight Manifesto - 9/10 - Quality. Deftones - don't feel comfortable reviewing them as I was listening from a distance after the bottle of Jager I drank the day before caught up with me. Sounded pretty good though Fall Out Boy - 7/10 - Solid set Placebo - same as Deftones First 6 songs of Kaiser Chiefs - 7/10 - what they do is rubbish, but they do it quite well! Jamie T - 2/10 - Really? This is what's popular nowadays?! Faith No More - 10/10 - Awesome Saturday Polar Bear Club - 8/10 - One to watch for the future Spinnerette - 7/10 - Not as good as The Distillers, but not bad by any means Them Crooked Vultures - 9.5/10 - only let down was the crowd only giving a shit about Dave Grohl - yes he's awesome but there's a member of freaking Led Zeppelin on stage! I swear half the people in Led Zep Tees at the fest don't even know they're a band! Ian Brown - 1/10 - only saw the last 4 or 5 songs as I was meeting my mates by the main stage, all I saw was further proof that Stone Roses having any talent at all was a myth. Fools Gold is an awful song. Mad Caddies - 7/10 - wish I knew some of their songs, my ignorence was detrimental to my enjoyment of them The Prodigy - 5/10 - very underwhelming and at times bordered on cringeworth Sunday Adam Bloom - 7/10 - pretty good Brendan Burns - 9/10 - very good Milton Jones - 7/10 - a bit hit and miss Yeah Yeah Yeahs - 8/10 - would have got more if they'd played maps properly Gallows - 5/10 - did nothing to change my opinion of them musically, however at least they wanted to be there. AFI - 9/10 - An excellent set. Lostprophets - 7/10 - clearly knew their audience would be more interested in newer stuff than that off of FSOP, no where near as good a set as their Download headlining slot last year. FebruaryStars
Friday: Amazing baby 7/10 Tim minchin 9/10 (i know he's not a band but he was quality!) fall out boy 7/10 probably the worst example of the band sound on the main stage that i saw placebo 5/10 kaiser chiefs 8/10 kings of leon 7/10 it's really weird that from where i was everyone seemed to be really into the set up until he went on his rant Saturday: Eagles of death metal 7/10 them crooked vultures 9/10 maximo park 7/10 prodigy 9/10 not usually my cup of tea but thought they were awesome arctic monkeys 6/10 odd setlist choice for a festival IMO Sunday: brand new 6/10 goldheart assembly 8/10 vampire weekend 7/10 yeah yeah yeahs 7/10 bloc party 8/
pickitoutlandreau
Joey Page - 1/10, The only thing amusing about this guy was how utterly badly he went down in the Alternative Tent. Junior Simpson - 7/10, Pretty funny. Particularly enjoyed his explanation of what the World Cup was for the Jocks in the audience. Maximo Park - 4/10, I don't usually mind them, but wasn't impressed in the slightest on this occasion. The Prodigy - 8/10, Wouldn't choose to listen to them on record that often, but when you're at a festival they are simply a must-see. Arctic Monkeys - 9/10, Absolutely adored it. As soon as I heard the start of 'My Propeller', I knew that they were going to shock a few people with their setlist choice, and that I was going to love it. The Joy Formidable - 9/10, Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. 'The Greatest Light.....' is slowly becoming established as one of my favourite tracks of the last year. The View - 6/10, Main stage billing doesn't suit them, and to be honest, I don't think they'll ever top their headline performance in the King Tuts tent at T as far as festivals go. Get them further up the bill on the NME/Radio 1 stage. Vampire Weekend - 6/10, Had a good sing-a-long, thoroughly enjoyed the set, but a bit like The View, not really suited for an afternoon main stage slot, IMO. Radiohead (First hour of set) - 7/10, Not Radiohead's biggest fan by any means, but I do like a lot of their stuff and I'm now glad that I've managed to catch a glimpse of them live, albeit only half of the set. Lost Prophets - 6/10, Went to see them as a compromise with my mate who's a big fan. They get an 6 purely based on the better known songs that I knew well enough to sing and bounce along to. The Horrors - 8/10, Was pleasantly surprised at how far they've come on as a live act since I last saw them. Loved the new stuff but 'Count in Fives' still made me lose it a little bit. Excellent. Fall Out Boy - 6/10, Not a lover of their newer stuff, but the stuff from their first 2 albums reminds me of my last year at school. They played enough of that to make me enjoy them. Placebo - 7/10. Could have been doing with some more older stuff, but I quite like the new record, so enjoyed the set none the less. The rest of my Sunday was spent in the Lock-Up tent with my mate who had his dream line-up of Alexisonfire, Anti-Flag and Billy Talent. Not my thing by any stretch of the imagination but I did enjoy myself, the guys in these bands really know how to work a crowd and seem really appreciative of the response they get. I can almost guarantee that I had more fun watching them than I would have watching KOL for the 4th time at a festival. 7/10 for the lot. Overall, saw a good mix of bands, mainly due to the wide range of tastes my mates and me have, but can't say anyone disappointed me, apart from Maximo Park. ilovemaiden
A few picks.. Alexisonfire (LU) 9/10 - Better than in the open air, Dallas Green is an excellent singer.. Billy Talent 10/10 - Saw these on my own as my group was either seeing KOL or FNM, had the time of my life, a really fun band and excellent live.. Not touring anywhere near me though which is gutting.. Also would appear the 'f**k the Kings of Leon' chants were correct... AFI 8/10 - Liked his range of vocals, and having never seen them before was impressed.. Gallows 8/10 - Wasnt really into them, but they soon changed my mind, energetic and great crowd interaction.. Prodigy 7/10 - Better indoors this year, but still got the crowd moving despite shitty sound.. (apparently had to turn it down because of the wind) LostProphets 7/10 - After a shit first half of the set, they finally brought out their better songs, and Shinobi, Burn Burn and Last Train were all good fun, and the new stuff sounds pretty good.. Funeral 8/10 - Prob seen these more than any other band as they are local, so prob the 9th time, was pretty good, thought they handled the loss of sound really well.. and played a good set.. SpiralD
Friday Enter Shikari - 1/10, the most awful noise I've ever heard The Courteeners - 7/10, Surprisingly enjoyed these, not my kind of music but found I knew a lot of their songs Ian Brown - 3/10, What a waste of time, he only avoids getting 1/10 for Fools Gold and FEAR Maximo Park - 9/10, One of my favourite bands, and my second favourite of the weekend. Really energetic as always, loved how they did Acrobat. Unfortunately I have no recollection of The Prodigy and apparently crashed out for Arctic Monkeys, me and spirits don't get along. Saturday Lethal Bizzle - 2/10, He was good to laugh at, but most of the time he just annoyed me The Living End - 5/10, Never heard any of their stuff before, was impressed The View - 4/10, All songs sounded the same, but Same Jeans went down a treat Vampire Weekend - 8/10, Old stuff was great, new stuff went down well too, sounds good. Walcott was the highlight Bloc Party - 6/10, Not a fan of these, but they were better than I expected Radiohead - 10/10, Best gig of my life, loved it from start to finish. Wolf at The Door and (Nice Dream) were a treat. It's just a shame they didn't do Karma Police. Sunday Florence and the Machine - 4/10, Sounded okay, she's a bit of a pisshead though Fall Out Boy - 5/10, Didn't seem to do many hits, but Don't Stop Believing was great. Kaiser Chiefs - 8/10, First time I've seen them live, and it was a great set Kings of Leon - 8/10, Wasn't expecting much, but they really impressed me, and I loved how they had a dig at the people who just went for Use Somebody and Sex on Fire. Good end to the weekend. Edited September 2, 2009 by SpiralD
beLIEveR
FRIDAY The Plight 8/10: A combination of rain, a broken poncho and washable hair dye meant that I ended up watching them. Very glad that I did, will check out again if they're in London anytime soon. Alexisonfire (mainstage) 7/10: Decent, but I can't help feeling the lockup set would have been ten times better. Tim Minchin 8/10: Absolutely love him. Sadly I was in a bad spot, so after "only a ginger" I decided to leave to catch most of... Streetlight Manifesto 9.5/10: Strong contenders for act of the weekend. Awesome. The Aggrolites 8/10: Not exactly my thing, but I had a fantastic time. The only reason they don't get a 9 is because I found out at the end of the set that I'd just missed Deftones. Bouncing Souls 9/10: Last time I saw them at Reading they were very average. But they were awesome this time. I sacrificed watching Manthem to catch up with Greg straight after they finished, which was pretty cool. At this point I met up with a mate from the staff campsite, and we wandered around for a while. We watched a little of: Kaiser Chiefs 7.5/10: I dislike them and feel they don't deserve to be so high up the R/L lineup, but they undeniably were quite good. Sound levels didn't seem too bad either. For some reason we left to see Anti-Flag 6/10: They weren't anywhere near as good as I've seen them in the past, and he just does not shut up. A bad call on my part, we should have stayed for the Kaisers. But it gets worse, as we caught a little bit of Jamie T 3/10: Shite. Just... shite. On the bright side I no longer felt guilty about dragging the other girl away from the Kaisers to watch AF, as this was her idea. Even she said he was poo. Kings of Leon 5/10: How I was persuaded not to watch FNM I don't know, but hey. I actually thought it was a pretty good set, and that most of the problems were down to sound balances. Considering they were headliners, the levels were unforgiveably awful. The performance deserved a 7 or so, but they lose that for being overpaid, ungrateful c**ts. SATURDAY The Rakes 7/10: Coke inspired twats who have only ever written three good songs, two of which are the first two tracks off of the first album. For some reason I still actually quite like them. Municipal Waste 8/10: Without a doubt the best circle pit of the weekend. Shame about the dust. They're a bit samey but what they do, they do very well. EDIT: Enter Shikari 7/10: I love them, but I was tired and mainly there out of a feeling of obligation. Fine, but they've played better. Besides, I was pretty excited about... Them Crooked Vultures 9.5/10 Let me put it this way. On the basis of this performance, I want QOTSA to break up. Mad Caddies 9/10: The band I was most looking forward to and they lived up to expectations. THE PRODIGY 10/10: Band of the weekend hands down. Arctic Monkeys 8/10: Pretty good, my only complaint is the timing of the album release. I really like their new stuff, but I'd have been far more excited about it had I had the chance to hear it a few times beforehand. They've sold me the album I suppose, I just didn't enjoy them as much as I did last time. Having to follow Prodigy probably didn't help. SUNDAY The Living End 8/10: They're one of these bands that I've never really gotten into yet never really been sure why. Pretty good performance, and probably the best sound levels of any band on the mainstage all weekend bar Radiohead. The View 4/10: The sound was awful, nobody was there, and whatever song it is that they started with I didn't like at all. I don't want to give them too much of a kicking as I've seen them in the past and they were quite good, but I left during said song to see... DeadMau5 8.5/10: Again, really not my thing, but once again very glad to have checked him out. Yeah Yeah Yeahs 6/10: I was just really undwhelmed. Maybe it was because we were in a shit position (the girl we were with could pee for England), maybe the day before and the anticipation of Radiohead meant I was getting bored in the meantime, but I really wasn't feeling it. Bloc Party 7.5/10: The fact that this is the best set I've ever seen them play doesn't make me any less annoyed that they played the exact same slot yet again this year. Undeniably very good, but I'll shut about being bored of them if Keke keeps his promise about 2010. Radiohead 9/10: Awesome, of course. Personally I think this is the best set they could possibly have played, but for some reason I enjoyed V2006 more. Still one of the best bands of the weekend though. Chavmeisterdeluxe
Friday Madina Lake 6/10 Singers voice went a few times Alexisonfire 7/10 Watched from quite a distance, very enjoyable though Funeral for a Friend 8/10 Good bit of banter when the sound died Jamie T n/a Watched the first 3 songs, good atmosphere, shame his songs are no good Kings of Leon 8/10 Was a good set minus the diva strop at the end Saturday Enter Shikari 8/10 Crowd was amazing Them Crooked Vultures 8/10 Brilliant, would've been better if I'd known the songs You Me At Six 9/10 really good performance White Lies 7/10 The Prodigy really raped them of any sort crowd The /blackout 9/10 Great way to end the day Sunday Kids in Glass Houses 8/10 Solid set, new stuff sounds promising Frank Turner 9/10 Amazing Brand New 6/10 Crowd where I was were guff Gaslight Anthem 9/10 Great atmosphere AFI 8/10 Knew more songs than I thought Lost Prophets 10/10 Best atmosphere I've ever seen in that tent
JakusMaximus
Friday: Reading. New Found Glory: 6/10 - They seemed to be playing well but were let down by sound, so i left after 3 songs. The Airborne Toxic Event: 7.5/10 - Really impressed by them, a few of their songs were actually very very good, lots of potential. Fake Problems: 7.5/10 - Another great new band, got some of their stuff after the fest. Streetlight Manifesto: 8.5/10 - Loved them since i was a kid, it was amazing to see them, what a bunch of legends and sounded amazing. Deftones: 9/10 - They f**king killed it, sick performance and sick pits. Placebo: 8/10 - Hampered by the wind but i thought they'd seriously improved live, Taste of men blew me away. Black lips: 7/10 - Pretty average songs but these guys put on a mad performance, they were partying hard and i like people who party hard, the guy came down after and hugged my mate too. Soulsavers: 8/10 - Really different to anything else i heard all weekend, very atmospheric and emotional. Faith no more: 9.5/10 - Legends, amazing performance and Mike Patton is a total nutcase, Probably the best sound of a band i'd heard all weekend and it really felt like i was seeing something special. Saturday Delphic: 8/10 - Pretty progressive indie electronic music, really melodic and some lovely soundscapes. Spinerette: 7.5/10 - Alot better than i thought they'd be, glad i got to see Brody Dalle, dirty. Metric: 8.5/10 - Real stand out performance from Emily Haines, f**king great band with some great tunes, tongue waggling. Municipal waste: 8.5/10 - What a band, just the kick up the ass reading needed, sick circle pit, i'd love to see more thrash at reading and they really livened me up. Them crooked vultures: 8.5/10 - Really impressed but i couldn't really get close enough to appreciate it, will definately be downloading them. Rival schools: 7.5/10 - didn't know much by this band but they were some great post-hardcore. Prodigy: 8/10 - Sounded like a great standard prodigy gig, it was way too packed though and a bit too quiet. Sunday Lethal Bizzle: 4/10 - Pretty shit, not very original and the crowd was full of c**ts. Frank Turner: 8.5/10 - You've just gotta love frank, his lyrics ring so true and he's a great songwriter. Deadmau5: 10/10 - Best thing i saw all weekend, best house set of my life period. I love this music, i had tears of happiness during i remember, it just hit the spot. Bloc Party: 7.5/10 - I really love their old stuff, This modern love is always a highlight and they have definately improved live. Radiohead: 9/10 - They played the perfect setlist and it was the perfect gig, but for some reason something was just a bit off, it just felt a bit "too" perfect, i've seen them play worse but enjoyed those gigs more. g-force
Was at Leeds. Won't go through everyone I saw so it's highs and lows:- Highs Kaiser Chiefs - 10/10, I quite like them but was still surprised at how good a show they put on. Everything Everything - 9/10, was really looking forward to them and wasn't disappointed. I expect big things from them in future. Lows Faith No More - 2/10, the band I was really looking forward to but I thought they were rubbish overall. They played well for the most part but the setlist wasn't right. Too often over-indulgent especially when they only had 75 mins. Patton came across as an ass. I wanted more songs not him posing and prancing about like he was the band.
