Arctic Monkeys

I heard various people mention that the Arctics Monkeys were boring.

For me they were 10/10. It was a really mature and 'moody' performance. Sure they didn't play as many of the 'indie dancefloor fillers' as they could have, but the end of the set was very intense and atmospheric IMO

Just my opinion.

I really like the new album (and hated the second one) but I think that if it had been there own gig it would have been really good, it wasn't though, it was a festival where quite a lot of the crowd just turn up to hear the greatest hits and the new album had only been out a few days with that in mind they should have only played 2-3 new ones incl Crying Lightning.

When I was walking back from the arena all I could hear people saying was the word boring or i got bored.

Lostprophets for example have a new album coming out and could have quite easily have used there perfomance to plug this and test out the new material. I saw them on Tuesday at the Manchester Academy when they played 5/6 new ones but for there headline perfomance on Saturday at Leeds they only played 2 new ones and went down really well.

was the best i've seen arctic monkeys perform, they really are coming on as a band. The setlist however, at a festival where people are arriving wednesday/ thursday and your album has been released on the monday, was an absolute pisstake. I'd got a leaked copy and enjoyed the set as i think the second album has a lot of charm to it, but they were a lot more laid back than on previous occasions, and the snubbing of material from the first album didn't go down well with the crowd at all.

I thought arctic monkeys were enjoyable but didnt blow me away. I think a lot of the slower songs didnt go down that well with the leeds crowd. What made arctic monkeys massive was anthems from the first album. I guess as their personal circumstances have changed so has the songwriting and they probably enjoy what they are doing. I dont however think their poularity will ever get to the elvels of a few years back.

I'm a pretty big fan, and I was disappointed too. Started ok, the singalongs were good, but after that they lost the crowd. And once that's happened, whether you know the songs or not, when hundreds of people round you are talking / shouting and generally being distracted, you've had it.

Also, Alex Turner's in-between-songs chat is terrible! They really need to work on making their set slicker: either fill the gaps in a way that keeps the crowd interested, or hit us with great song after great song, without the shambolic dead air in between.

I still think they're a great band. I just think they've a way to go before they're true headlining material.

Where I was, the atmosphere for the old songs was crazy, so I disagree. Things died down when new, unfamiliar songs were played - pretty common, really. I thought it was a good set, definitely a set for a dedicated fan more than someone there for the usual tunes. As a festival set, it was a weird choice of songs but even so, they kept enough people there. NIN did a similar thing at Sonisphere - just played exactly what Trent wanted to play, and received either really good reactions or really negative ones. I like those sort of gigs though.

I knew all of the songs, so I didn't mind at all and the atmosphere where I was was electric for the majority of the set.

As for charisma, I've never been one for all that rockstar bullshit. As long as the band plays the songs and doesn't be a twat to the audience (Kings of Leon, anyone?) it's fine by me. Obviously this is just what I've accepted as my view of good/bad gigs though. I can easily see why people didn't like this set.

i hate that people think maturity is always a good thing. I would have enjoyed it far more if they covered Journey.

Worst band of the festival for me. Although they were the only band i saw that im not a huge fan of

I was bored. I left after view from the afternoon. They had no onstage charisma, which i normally don't care about, but when coupled with new songs which are longer, made me want to just sit down in my campsite instead.

Especially in comparision to prodigy, which was a little cheesy but high octane and fun.
