Explosions_In_The_Sky
1) 90% of the set from that duff new CD. 2) 40 musicians one stage with them for the few older songs (when three used to do). 3) Very much looked like going through the emotions at the end of a long tour... Watching this picture on the screens for 45 minutes would of been more exciting Edited August 31, 2009 by Explosions_In_The_Sky
Sparticus
i enjoyed placebo but found it very odd that (at leeds) they played nearly all new stuff in the first half of the set then the older songs at the end.
tomisnothere
I enjoyed them, but as time went on it did seem to drag on a bit. I've heard other people say the same about their gigs in the past though.
VCK
I'd heard mixed reports about them as a live band but I quite enjoyed them yesterday.
deebster
Saw them the last coupla times they played and was bored rigid by them. Didn't bother this time around.
Budweiser
What was it with bands playing 70% stuff off their new albums that nobody even knows? Loads of bands with upcomming albums done this..
moshing
Really enjoyed Placebo at Leeds - thought they played a reasonable mix of stuff.
Marshall
I thought they were excellent. I'd not heard any of the new songs live before so welcomed there was a lot in the set. Ok if someone hadn't seen the band many times in the past wanted more of a mix but it suited me fine as it was. I mean I hardly knew any of the soulsavers material as I'd only played the latest album once but didn't stop me loving them.
spaceman80
Not seen placebo live yet, but really would like too, they have quite a few great songs.
pink_triangle
I can see why the casual music fan wouldnt have loved the set with all the new stuff. I am however a big fan of hte new album and loved it. Defininitely planning on catching them in manchester.

VCK
Every You, Every Me was like the fifth song in their set and that's not a new song. Pedantic bastard that I am.

pink_triangle
At this stage I dont see placebo as a band who are going to win over many new fans. They probably want to play their new stuff and keep most of their current fanbase happy. Placebo are still massive sellers throughout europe so are obviously doing something right. Chihiro Cheeks
I really enjoyed them. Seen them 6 times and 4th time at Leeds. N well I had a great time dancing and singing in the rain!
tolywoly
I like Placebo, but much prefer the early albums particularly the first one. Would have liked to have seen some of those tunes in their set; not necessarily Nancy Boy or another single.

Marshall
I think you should just judge it by the performance rather than 'did they play the hits'. The new songs were great and so was the performance. If people just want to sing along karoke style, its not the bands problem... Placebo have form for playing these sort of sets for festivals anyway, can't have been a massive surprise...
Englishdragon
Their set at leeds was Kitty Litter' 'Ashtray Heart' 'Battle For The Sun' 'For What It's Worth' 'Every You Every Me' 'The Never Ending Why' 'Breathe' 'Special K' 'Song To Say Goodbye' 'Infra-Red' 'The Bitter End' 'Taste In Men' 5 out 12 songs off the new album, seems a perfectly good set for me to say they even said in the program that its still a Battle for the sun tour and not a greatest hits tour. I thought they were good but there not everybodys cup of tea Edited August 31, 2009 by Leeds_Brett
tjallen900
I loved them, was pretty disappointed certain songs werent played like Nancy Boy but overall I would say they were one of my fave bands of the weekend. But if I remember correctly they played a lot of new songs when touring the Meds album at Reading festival in 06. So I kind of expected it. fat_man_joe
I thought performance-wise they were fantastic but the set was utter bollocks. Nearly half new stuff, and no sign of Without You I'm Nothing, Black Eyed, Twenty Years, This Picture, Bionic....
hatman
i've seen them 8 times both at festivals and at their own shows and they always play about three quarters of whatever new album is out at the time. also they rarely play the biggies - nancy boy and pure morning. on another note i actually think the new album is pretty good
