Kings of Leon - discussion of their set

Does anyone think they were justified in being absolute f***ing d**ks to the crowd?

I have been a fan of Kings of Leon for the past few years and I knew a good 80% of the lyrics to the songs they played and then get told that we werent doing well enough for them. It is insulting, I understand that they were annoyed not everyone was singing but lets be honest their latest album is quite commercialised compared with others and a lot of people went to see them just for Sex on Fire. I am not saying that I dislike them because of their more commercialised album, I love it. I just wanted to get across my point that not everyone watching them was a huge fan, but more a fan of 1 or 2 songs. I thought the set was brilliant but I expect better attitude from a band I pay good money to go see.

Any thoughts?

Totally agree!

Their disregard for their fans is disgusting. They seem to forget that the only reason they are where they are today and being asked to headline one of the biggest festivals in the world is because of their fans.

I wasn't there, but if a band I'd paid good money to see, and bought (not illegally downloaded) all 4 of their albums flicked the V's at me as they left the stage or posted on twitter about how I was part of one of the worst crowds they've played to, I'd be raging.

Total c**ts!

To be fair i saw them at V last year and the crowd were much more into it. It was like seeing the rise and fall. The new songs sounded much better live but the old ones seemed to have lost their spark notably Mollys Chambers. Black Thumbnail was still wicked but i was the only stood behind the second barrier enjoying anything. Would have been upfront but i gave my all during Kaisers and Thursday was harsh.

Watched them from afar on the Friday night and again on TV when I got home and don't know what they were complaining about.

They had a decent crowd going, but lets be honest - they are an over-hyped media-sensationalized kind of band... how can you get *that* excited about them??

It always riles me when bands have these little hissy fits. They have a crowd of thousands, playing the biggest stage at one of the most famous music event in the world and getting paid vast sums of money for their trouble.

The crowd looked like they were enjoying it much more than the band. In which case, the band should just call it a day rather than carry on making their fans shell out their cash to watch a band just going through the motions.

Get Dave Grohl / Foo Fighters back up there for a headliner. That guy sweats appreciation for his audience.
