Im_in_a_tent
just found this quote and it made me wonder Speaking about trouble at the site, Mr Benn said: “It was my impression that the campsite was quieter this year than last year. “As far as I know no loos were set fire to. They did try to set fire to a telegraph pole but that was about it. “There certainly were fires on the campsite. They always light fires and I think some tents were thrown into the fires, but certainly not with anyone in them. beLIEveR
If he didn't hear any complaints about the sound on the Friday, it's because he didn't speak to a single commoner on the Saturday or Sunday. It was f**king awful, and apologies for the censorship. He probably is right that this year in the campsite was far better than previous years, but he gives the impression that he thinks it was a nice place to be. If that's so I wouldn't hold my breath for further improvements next year.
5co77ie
Looks like the same line is being taken as ever then, my advice pack up Sunday morning and be ready to leave after the last band Sunday, or don't camp. Noise was lovely and loud on Friday until they turned it down after The Prodigy clash - mind you with the wind you could hear KoL in the middle Reading - I know I was there. Im_in_a_tent
My advice is pack up on sunday night, ready to move at a moments notice and stay up all night getting drunk, listening to heart fm, flirting with girls until you can get the first train home. Or camp in white.
benissright
but why should we let immature little kid wreck our last night, it needs to be dealt with. If people behaved like this out side of a festival the police would have made arrests and dispearsed the situation whats different with reading?? does anyone have the final crime figures out of curiosity? Im_in_a_tent
No crime was committed on the final night. Its all a scam crime figures. I had the best last night ive ever had at reading this year. Heart FM + Beer + the ample use of the phrase "f**k off" or "hello ladies". micawber
No serious incidents apart from some punter/perv chatting up all the girls http://www.thamesvalley.police.uk/newseven...em.htm?id=99786

benissright
There's a difference between crime and reported crime. I saw at least a dozen crimes take place, and that's without even thinking about it properly.

Rancidpunk_76
Jeez, maybe if he actually went into the camp site instead of schmoozing backstage with Radiohead he might have a different view. Frankly, this year was the worst i've known it

sadwitch
Even if it there weren't any "crimes" it can be f**king terrifying, isn't that enough?
kerizzle
one of the reasons why i didnt go this year was because of the sunday night riots 08 was ok in yellow 9 mind but when i woke up the next morning and packed everything up it looked like a bomb had hit it was awful. Sparticus
why should they give a f**k when they can make it look like they care by affliating themselves with people like makelovenotriots, who whilst might be a great idea in theory, in reality are not solving a lot at all. i'm in two minds about next year, i enjoyed it and so did my mates who hadn't been before, but even they said there was a lot of w*nkers there and burning tents was stupid, and we used to always be playing around with fire at 15, difference was we knew the difference between right and wrong. stubbs
All these festival promoters who put on Leeds, T in the Park etc should actually spend the weekend on the campsite away from the vip areas and bars, then theyll get a taste of what its like and what needs improving
eFestivals
i think we should get melvin in a tent in the middle of yellow that might change his view I've been lead to believe that melvin got "in the middle" of something at Leeds a few years back, and that as a result he'll never get in the middle of anything like that again. tomisnothere
I was in Yellow at Leeds, which apparently had the worst of it. Despite this, most of my friends who came and had been before said they were surprised that the riots weren't worse this year.
