ALLHALLOWS
The atmosphere in the campsites even on sunday morning were terrible you could just sense trouble. I really don't know what happens to people to turn into monsters on the last night. Fires should be banned altogether and anyone found lighting on or stood around one should be banned from every uk festival ever.
deegs
There were no crimes because there were no bloody police to record them.
cabstar
Having been to many festivals over the years & particularly this year I was surprised at the lack of policing at Leeds. Apart from 2 police motorbikes at the car park entrance & the dog van in the trees near the main entrance I saw very little police presence. Considering the problems in the past at Leeds I really expected to see a large police presence. The largest police presence I have seen at a festival this year was Global Gathering followed closely by V Festival Staffs. Staffordshire police even made excessive use of the remote camera flying drones this year which I suppose is better than the oscar 99 hovering above all night. I left on the Sunday night soon as KOL finished, I certainly was not going to hang around, definately was an unsavoury smell in the air... Im_in_a_tent
Surely less police means less arrests and means less costs and less chance of them losing the licence or am I just thinking too much?
Paul ™
Unfortunately police/security can cost up to 20% of your ticket costs.. double the amount and its gonna increase they ticket cost

Rancidpunk_76
So was there any attempted tent burning in white camp then?

monkeydave
Not sure about White camp as it was a different security company (Stuart Security) that was covering that area. Paul ™
Stuart Security is not involved with Leeds Festival . The company that provides all campsite areas security and perimeter fence security/dog units and the emergency rapid response teams in those land rover discoverys is Gainsborough Security & Event Management Ltd The inside of the arena and stages and pit area security and stewards is provided by AP Security Ltd Also Oxfam provide volunteer gate stewards to check tickets/wristbands
monkeydave
I do know all this  Am assuming the OP was on about Reading, which is what I was replying about anyway.

markeee
melvin doesn't care..hardly a shock if people stop going, the festival doesn't sell out/doesn't make money..perhaps then he would care and address the issues as it is, he can carry on lining his own pockets ignoring any problems there may be, as people still go, and it still sells out
Im_in_a_tent
i had a thought earlier, didn't big green gathering get shut down because it didn't meet the health and saftey part of it licence. maybe if we can get enough complaints together and send them to reading council maybe melvin will start to take notice when he's on the verge of losing the festivals licence
Reue
Festival Republic are constantly trying to reduce the troubles on Sunday night. Ive seen a number of initives suggested last year which were implemented this year to try and curb the problems. Personally I've been asked by FR for my thoughts and suggestions on the Sunday night troubles a number of times, so they are at least listening to what the 'average' festiver goer is saying. Im_in_a_tent
Sorry Reue, but "listening" is one thing.... actually "doing" is a whole other matter. This has been going on for years and has only gotten worse. That's what "listening" has done for this festival. I have met Melvin (and you, for that matter) and i know there's alot of good intentions on Melvins part. Well, lots of nodding and agreeing, but no tangible action taken. You can tell me all the changes that were implemented this year until you're blue in the face - dosn't change the fact that we had to evacuate at 2.30 in the morning. That's the first time i've ever had to do that in over 12 years of attending. I won't be doing it again.
