ampersand
You don't find him funny? *falls on floor with shock* I know comedy is subjective and that's like expressing disbelief that someone could not like the same style of music as me, but still. Eddie rules. I hope he hasn't done himself any permanent harm with all the running. That would suck. i got a len of his dvds from my mate. think there were 4 of them. and i remember being shown a stand up show of his in french in french class. didnt get anything he did at all. just not my thing. but think its a poor show about how much coverage he's getting. david walliams got shit loads for doing something no where near as big as this. Katster
Russell Howard is terrible. Has he ever said anything funny on Mock The Week? Everything.
ampersand
Everything. he annoys me greatly. the week that holly walsh was on, i actually think he was funny. but most of the time he just annoys me. he's just a guy with add who wants all your love and tries to make up the silliest things possible to get a laugh. makes me cringe most of the time. who's the canadian guy on mock the week? think its stuart francis. he's brilliant! Every Canadian Comedien I've seen has been that same type of depressive humour, I wonder why that is? He's ok, no idea what his name is, but in my opinion he's not consistently funny like Russell Howard is to me. I guess if you don't like Russell's style then he's going to get quite annoying, but as I like it I don't Holly Walsh was really funny too. Who is she? sloaney007
I think special mention needs to go to Eddie Izzard, I didnt realise he had run 43 marathons in 52 days with just 5 weeks training. What an amazing fella, and damn funny to boot. linky Some friends of mine saw him running one of the marathons in the lake district a couple of weeks back. They made him stand in the rain for 10 minutes while they all got pictures with him, then they didnt know what else to say so offered him a lift! He politely refused as he was running a marathon! very funny guy, and abit of a hero too.

Isn't Hugh Edwards a BBC news reader? Rob Brydon does my nut in. I try to like him but he's in Alan Partridge mode too much. Wooderson
"Grammy" Sammy Kinison = the best of all time. The stuff about "Lil' Haji" is possibly the funniest gag I've ever seen. Other notables: Dave Allen Richard Pryor Bill Cosby George Carlin Bill Bailey Tommy Tiernan Sean Hughes I would pay a tonne of cash to see Jon Stewart do stand up. - - - - Two comedians I saw on my travels in the States this summer that impressed would be: Reggie Watts, a total genius mixing Bill Bailey's free association with an Aphex Twin-esque capability on a sampler/sequencer on stage. He was ASTONISHING. Basically a musician at heart but with comedic/timing talent to burn. He could be a star in the future. I heard a mate of mine saw him play Dublin last year. Totally gutted I missed him play my hometown! www.myspace.com/reggiewatts Jacob Sirof, the most offensive comedian I've ever experienced live. Rock and Leary both pushed offensive buttons but nothing like this guy. He was vile. Made little kids cry etc. Hilarious though. www.myspace.com/jacobsirof
Tugger2k
im not going through 4 pages to search if somebody has mentioned the greatest comedian working the circuit right now. Mr Daniel Kitson genius is used way to often in contect of entertainers but if any current comedian deserves the moniker, its him!!

sloaney007
Went to see Jason Manford a couple of months ago, he's very funny, northern and abit working class if you like that sort of thing. I also like Lucy Porter but think that more due to the fact a fancy her abit Reginald D Hunter is really good, love his chilled out style. Noel Fielding used to do a great stand up show before he joining the mighty boosh squad. It was just as crazy as the boosh. If you watch mock the week religiously youl have already heard about 75% of Frankie Boyles show, which I was abit miffed about when I saw him earlier this year. serginhowardinho
I doubt whether Bill Hicks will ever be surpassed. I'd have George Carlin and Billy Connolly bubbling under though. Stand up comedy is such a good night out, and like a previous poster has said, people are much more prepared to take a punt than they would be with other forms of entertainment. The best i've seen recently were Lloyd Langford (not sure if you'll find any material online) and Jon Richardson - you can download his Six Music show through iTunes/BBC but it's not nearly as funny as his stand-up. Although his side-kick on the show, Matt Forde is very funny.
