Renting a car for Glastonbury!?!?

Hello,

Has anyone ever rented a car to take to Glastonbury? Basically my mate missus got a bit upset her car got filthy last year, but she will still drive us as long as we rent her a car to drive. Problem is she will be 24 then and it seems nowhere would be willing to rent a car big enough to take 3 of us, two tents and 200 odd beers.

Any ideas?

hahashe was chilled, but you could just see how upset she was. Trouble is her car is a weebit small, so renting seems the best idea (better than my friends suggestion of buying a run down VW and driving it there)

Glad to hear it it went smothly for you, I'm away when they need to sort it on aSE Asia tour (I'm cutting short 1 1/2 months becuase Glasto is unmissablelol) soprob best just to tell them what we are doing with it?

Every festy we go to we hire a small van, around £100 for the weekend, (£120 for the glasto this yr)

Great for carrying all the beer, and gear and the rest of our group gets the bus hassle free, but then there are normally 10 or more with us....

But haven't left a deposit yet....reccomended!

My beloved BEEMER looked like I had driven into the Ganges with the doors open exiting out

of the car park in 2007 , with all the getting in an out pushing etc.

Then when I got home I had to evacuate my girlfriend and her 3 cats so more mud and llood

water and cat hair added into the mix

But hey , about 1 week later when I finally got to clean it , it came up a treat.

I would save the hire car money and usie it for booze and drugs !

Oh and on Sunday my friends little one was sick in it , but hey things happen , 9 years of Glasto and

I am super chilled about stuff like that.

;)

If you do hire a car, bear in mind that although everything will probably be fine, most car hire agreements explicitly forbid you for driving off-road, or on unpaved roads.

This could conceivably mean if you had an accident in one of the car park fields, the hire firm would probably be within their rights to charge you for the damage (rather than claiming on insurance). But the chances of getting caught out are probably tiny...

On the age thing, lots of firms will charge a young driver fee if the driver is under 25, so that could cost you a bit more.

If you do hire and it gets seriously muddy, I'd give it a quick jetwash just to be on the safe side, but decent hire companies (not the no-frills ones like Easycar) won't expect to get it back completely shiny and clean.

(Though if you ask me, the poster who said get a valet instead of hiring has the right idea...)

Anyway, good luck!
