Definitely reckon they've had a backlash over the poor quality of yesterday's announcement and had to rush out a couple of decent (well, ish!) names to counteract it. If they'd just released these along with maybe two other 'known' artists yesterday, they could've buried all the rubbish under them and people would barely have noticed!

What you say is totally fine if people treat it as an extended holiday, which is the attitude that you happen to have and that's great (me too, to an extent!) But if people have bought tickets based on previous years' line-ups, they're MORE than entitled to feel let down. Essentially, the festival has simply not delivered what it has promised based on the strength of its history. People have probably had to choose between festivals and have chosen Beni on the strength of past acts....and as there is a serious dip in quality this year, I think it's fair enough that people feel disappointed.

If you look on the main Beni Facebook page, people are even selling their tickets now (ie, after today's announcement) - not good. And I think the worst thing, is that the atmosphere (which to me is always the most exhilarating thing about a festival) will just be limp as anything; with no really huge, exciting bands playing there'll be far less anticipation / excitement - and that's just such a shame.

I'm still looking forward to this year, but whereas previously I'd thought Beni would be an annual event for me, this will be the last year - no way am I spending hundreds of pounds to see a stack of unknowns again!!

The line-up isn’t as good as most UK festivals alright but I think it’s as good or better than most European festivals.

Looking at the website I wonder if Kasabian, The Prodigy, Vampire Weekend and Ray Davies are our 4 headliners??

The line up is ok in depth, theres some good bands i want to see there. Mumford & Sons, Temper Trap, Boyz Noize, Scratch Perverts, Julian Casablancas, Hot Chip, Klaxons, The Cribs, Ian Brown..

Vampire Weekend surely can't be headliners? I know they spent a lot on those headliners last year, but come on..

I agree with sprostongreen and a few others on here...

I'm happy with a lot there Ian Brown, Vampire Weekend, Kasabian, Prodigy, Leftfield, Two door cinema club, Dizee Rascal, Lilly Allen, Ellie Goulding, Delorentos and Jack L. Im wondering what Ray Davies, Julian Casablancas and Peter Hook will be like but I'm reckoning they'll be pretty good.

The Hacienda Night... Graeme Park, DJ Pierre and Justin Robertson. I'd put a banker on it that if you like dance music your in for a treat here and if you don’t like dance music… the atmosphere will get ya!! I admit I haven't heard of the first two but I reckon theres a treat in store there!! Theres a lot of other Dance Acts in there from France and Spain so its not likely that Irish or English people would have heard of them but thats not to say they're not good.

Theres a mixed bag here with something for everyone and how many bands can one person listen too; if all acts were top class then there'd be complaining that people couldnt see them all. There sun, beach, camping for a whole week included and I dont know about english festivals but its a hell of a lot cheaper that any of the bigger Irish Festivals!!

There was some amount of people moaning about this and comparing it to other Festivals... why not wait til its finalized and if ya still dont like it then dont go. Just leave the rest of us enjoy our Festival!!

Come on Beni, Bring on the good times!!

My first Beni and am taking it as a holiday with some brilliant bands along the way. Didnt even notice that Lily Allen got added which im pretty happy about. Reckon Ray Davies will be pretty good aswell, does he do old kinks stuff live?

Im looking forward to- The Prodigy, Kasabian, Lily Allen, Dizzee Rascal, The Cribs, Ray Davies, Courteeners, Hot Chip, Ian Brown, Julian Casblancas, Klaxons, the Hacienda night, The Specials, PiL(but think they will be headlining the other stage). Will prob watch Skream as heard some good things. Any of the 'unknon' bands that are worth checking out?

It seems most people's beef is with the headliners not being the same standard (popularity) as last years.

I find it hard to believe that this years and last years festivals would not be run entirely separately - with separate budgets etc... so the idea of this years being smaller to offset over expenditure last year doesn't ring true for me.

I reckon there's a few more surprises yet..... but I might be compeltely wrong.

already got my ticket, so really not much point in losing too much sleep about it. If a have a good time I might go back, if I don't, then I won't.

Edisonic - I appreciate what you say, and I don´t disagree that as part of a holiday it really is great, but for some of us, this is a ) the only festival we are doing this year, and b ) something we bought early based on previous strong line ups because we have to budget well in advance.

I live and work in Spain, and have been to Beni (and some other Spanish fesivals too!) many times - the fact is, like most locals, we really can only afford the time off (and the prices!) for one festival a year. I bought my tickets in March, as I had to spread my wage - I am a fully qualified PC technician, and take home less (by comparison) than your average shop worker in the UK by a considerable difference. Couple that with huge rises in living costs in the last year, and we lay out a noticeable amount for what seems to be a poor line up for the price.

I am really glad that so many people see it differently to me, and really glad that you all can take it more in your stride - I have booked off a week of work (one of only two per year, and which I now cannot change) and laid out a large percentage of my wage to go, and am not happy with the lack of big names. Living in Spain, we get very few big acts come to perform at all, and usually only midweek in Madrid or Barcelona, making it impossible for most people to see them, so we rely on festivals.

All I can say is, for me and my partner, it is a let down of a line up - I am sure I will discover some good bands, but it would have been the same with a few bigger names too. Like many expats, I expect I will return to the UK within the next year, and then enjoy the choice of festivals you all maybe take a little for granted.

Sproston - you keep nailing it for old school beni goers. Ahhhhhh the beach party. Thankfully the masses haven't found everywhere yet. Still loads of good beach and boozers for during the day.

4 day hacienda party in the sun coming up. All that's missing from the line up - Happy Mondays. ha.

Hear hear, Edisonic!

This is my first time to beni and I was a little put down by all the negative comments on the line-up, but you got me cheered up again. :P

Sure, I like to have a few big names, but I think a festival is also about getting to know new bands. And if that can be done with some sun, beach and sea I'm more than happy!
