hi people

another festival im thinking of going to, but is it basically a gig on a racetrack? or is there more stuff going on say after the bands have finnished?

thetime - rock am ring is just mental, most of it is on the racetrack, second stage is the same size as the main stage at leeds, main stage is just huge. Big difference between the uk fests is that bands go on late, around 1am on the main stage and 2:30/ 3 on the altnastage and club tent (give or take an hour, it was a very hazy festival haha, we got lost on the ringtrack after the bands finished, classic). Plus the germans come a lot more prepared than us, you can camp next to your car, they bring EVERYTHING, sofas, computers and generators so they can have diy parties in the campsites, it's just a brutal weekend.

r0w - i started to think that, but i've seen metallica 3 times over the last three summers, each time it's just such an experience, not massively into metal myself but they put bands like maiden to shame.

Would like people's opinions on im park since i'm thinking of doing both pinkpop and that next year (arn't they only 100 miles apart?). Also, heard something the layout of the main stage at RaR being changed so it's not so narrow, can anyone elaborate on this?

basically, there's sometimes a couple of acts that play one and not the other, rar seems to go on for longer though

Thoughts?

Quite strong, although i'm never sure with how many of the "top" spots are gone, as iirc RaR do like to stagger the big announcements. Whilst not familiar with everyone on that list there's only one i'd avoid like the plague (gossip, beth ditto comes across as an arse in interviews, plus their music isn't exactly reinventing the wheel!). Would've rather had metallica than kiss, it'll be a laugh though

Really hope they get atleast one or two more name bands. Then again looking at it, Kiss and Rammstien will be headliners, no doubt. Can see Muse being knocked down to the 8.30ish on a sunday to accommodate a Metallica or the like.
