guyfawkes
Beautiful day in Liverpool at the moment, no clouds, lovely sun and boobies everywhere. This is what the people of Glastonbury demand from 23rd to 28th June!
Langdale Wolf
Well if there's rain for the next few weeks it'll undoubtedly be muddy at the very least
amfy
There lies your problem. I also seem to remember persistent rain in the run up to all the muddiest festivals whilst the last couple of years have been resonable summers right up to us getting there - which was part of the reason why the intial rain in 2008 & 9 was so disappointing. However - the lack of rain up to the last 2 festivals was part of the reason why the site recovered so well on Friday and we still had a great weekend.Lots of rain in the weeks leading up to the festival just means that it takes less rain to turn it into a mudbath at the end of the month.I particularly remember in 1997 & 2007 that it just chucked it down all summmer long - so at least it's not doing that at the moment! 3puddings
Yeah they did! I think they had to, 2005 was horrendous! But it does dry up quickly, even in 2005 you could sit down on the floor again by the Saturday. 2007 was just rank the whole time, and then 08 and 09 were dry again by the weekend. No probs! It'll be lush!
Drinky
Is there any way we could find out what they predicted this week's weather to be three weeks ago to check their validity?(By the way Langdale, this is Sedgley Wolf off the Mix. I admire your steadfast refusal to accept any rainfall whatsoever during the festival. Sterling work in this thread!)

3puddings
I remember the "Azores High" being a sore point of that summer.I reckon heatwise this summer has already beaten 2007, and dryness wise, 2007 was shocking. The August Bank Holiday was literally the only nice weekend (after LW's wedding!!) jeffie
After last year's weather debate, which couldn't even agree on what the weather would be like on the day, I've decided I don't trust weather forecasters. Therefore, from now on I will forecast the weather the old fashioned way. I've sacrificed a goat, and read its innards. The Tuesday before the Festival will be wet, drying out on the Wednesday as the first tent pegs go in. Thursday will be overcast, and the sun will break through the clouds on Friday morning for two days of glorious sunshine, before another overcast day on Sunday, allowing us all to have a lie in.The goat's liver was speckled, which tells me that Boyzone will headline the Pyramid Stage. llcoolphil
Jet stream seems like its settled a lot further north this year which is why we keep getting decent spells of good weather - I'll go for a scorchio again this year
grumpyhack
We could do with a certain amount of rain in the lead up. If the ground is baking hard come the fest it won't absorb rain so quickly should any fall.My ideal fest has a few light rain showers overnight to dampen down the dust. I remember one year they had to have water trailers out spraying to keep the dust down. But anyway

Lucanesque
Not wanting to piss on anyone's seaweed, but the forecasts still aren't looking great  Monday 7 June 2010 to Sunday 13 June 2010Warmth gives way to wetHigh pressure may hang on just long enough to bring a hot and sunny start to the period. But change is on the way.At least the farmers and gardeners will be pleased, because as low pressure edges in from the west, the rain clouds will gather from the west. The breakdown to unsettled, wetter conditions looks like being slow and sporadic, but eventually we will all have seen some rain. Temperatures wil ease back down to somewhere near the norm for this time of year. Good growing weather...Monday 14 June 2010 to Sunday 27 June 2010Low pressure greets high summerThe sun is now at its strongest, heating things up quickly given half a chance. But low pressure, taking up residence near our shores, will help suck the warm air up to form big clouds and heavy downpours. This combination of heat and water causes the atmosphere to become increasingly highly charged with energy; and thunder and lightning are nature's way of releasing that energy.Expect interruptions to the first week of Wimbledon! Mackem
What happened to the always amusing glastoweatherwatch? I know he stopped doing it as he got married, but the site doesn't even seem to exist now with its archives. Seems a shame.
