Weather thread 2010

Maybe this is just me being overly optimistic, but the most recent JACKONE posts are opening up the possibility of a 1995-style scorcher if we're lucky - we need that massive pocket of high pressure to take up residence over the south west from Wednesday to Monday, but it's possible...

Latest Met Office Forecast

UK Outlook for Tuesday 22 Jun 2010 to Tuesday 6 Jul 2010:

Indications continue to show a mixture of drier and brighter interludes but still with a signal of more unsettled weather at times. Rainfall and sunshine amounts are therefore expected to be around average throughout the period. Temperatures should be near or slightly below normal, but perhaps slightly above in parts of southern and eastern England.

We're all taking our rain battering now, like we originally asked for! This is the gods answering our prayers, we ARE getting all the rain out the way now :D:D

We were all worried when it was too nice too early, and now it's doing exactly what we want :)

It WILL be a dry and scorchio Glastonbury!!

HA HA HA!!! Wicked! I understand now :D

I saw a ring of something but don't know what constitutes high pressure and what constitutes low pressure - after at least 4 years obsessing on these boards, I really should by now.

Thank you for your unique explanation!! YES! WE WANT THIS FRYING PAN RING OF PRESSURE PLEASE!!

See that big ring of high pressure sat over the UK?

High pressure - Wayne Rooney.

Low pressure - Emile Heskey.

High pressure - what we want.

Low pressure - useless.

Four legs good.

Two legs bad.

Think of the UK as a saucepan, and think of that nice ring with 1032 on it as the hob on the cooker, it means it's turned on and we'll fry. B)

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be right.

its simple low pressure = lots of cloud, so they take the weight of all the sky above

high pressure = no cloud so all that sky stuff is on your head thus increasing pressure

1000Mb that's 1gb which can be calculated as 1gb = cloud x RAM x expectation (when expectation is above 10 excites on the x-mas scale)

I hope that helps.

Sorry if this has been posted already. I am not really clued up with the validity and reliabilty of certain webpages but this 14 day forecase by meteogroup seems to show a fairly decent run up to the Tuesday of Glastonbury! Looks like it is gonna be sunshine sneaking through with temperatures of around 20 degrees and most importantly no...'R**n the week before the festival! I have got good feelings about this one!!

Pampers per hour scale is genius!! It's going to be off the scale this time in 2 weeks!!

I've only just dried out from the soaking I got this morning going to the car - it's all part of the sacrifice, and I, for one, am happy to make it!!

Mas - no one wants to work when it's sunny, you're right! And I didn't feel bad loafing around watching telly last night and not being productive when it was raining!!
