PRODIGY

Prodigy have just announced a massive headline show at Milton Keynes Bowl on Saturday 24th July 2010. This means that they are touring next year and therfore in the ring to play festivals...

I can definately see them being approached to headline...

Local boys (Chelmsford anyway) so can see them being up for it

Played Reading this year so that wont be an issue...

Only played V last year so if they did come back (new album released since) the only progression for them is to headline Main Stage (or 2nd but who could top them?)

What do you think?

While it's possible I guess, I'd also guess that they won't commit to anything like that until they've sold an amount of tickets for MK Bowl that they consider to be good enough to not be undermined by playing elsewhere.

Given that the likes of V fest will probably be wanting to have those sorts of convos with their potential headliners right now, I'd guess that would put Prodigy in the position of being a backup possibility rather than a dead cert.

It's also normally the case that when a band is playing their own big shows they don't do festivals. I know there's plenty of examples of exceptions to this, but they're normally bands that are far bigger draws than Prodigy are (I'm not saying they're small, but they're also no Oasis or Coldplay in terms of sales).

I love the Prodigy but after headlining 2nd stage in 2005 and 2008 at V and TITP, 2nd stage in 2006 and 2009 at Download, Id be very disappointed if they were chosen as a headliner for V next year, the only reason they were 2nd on main stage at Reading and Leeds was because their second stage is a tent and it would be health and safety to put them in the the tent, They wanted to play the tent at Download but were told they were too big for it. Plus the 3rd stage tent at Download is pathetic

Acts who could be headliners or second headliners at the majors next year

Arctic Monkeys

Kasabian

Green Day

Blink 182

Aerosmith

My Chemical Romance

Faithless

Muse

Foo Fighters

Coldpay

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Radiohead

The Libertines

Pearl Jam

I reckon V will have a good chance of getting

DAY 1

Arctic Monkeys

Faithless

DAY 2

Green Day

My Chemical Romance

could be likely... perhaps...

Editors as a second stage headliner as well

It can’t be the Libertines either, because that’s been ruled out already.

It’s going to be somebody shit like Kasabian, and probably Muse. [both are repeats from recent line-ups]

They shouldn’t waste the money on Faithless either, get Daft Punk or Kraftwerk in instead.

I don't see prodigy playing a headline show to 65,000 people and being considered a draw for V. They simply aren;t that big. I personally whether they are big enough full stop to be playing the bowl. Previous headliners being a much higher and consistent quality including reading headliners such as Metallica, Green Day as well as bands like Oasis and Bon Jovi.

It will be interesting to see how ticket sales go.

there a bit bit boring live, your always guarenteed, maxim to yell where's my 'insert festival/town name' people, followed by lots of the F word including get the F up, ad I wanna see you f-ing move. and then they will finish on outta space.

If you read what I said Ivan, which obviously you didn't you'd rather just come on here and have a little bash at me, you'll see I didn't say they'll be at V, I said could be at the major's next year. Meaning the major festivals.

And if Radiohead and RHCP are touring theres every chance they could be at V, they've both played there before, Pearl Jam won't be at V because Download and Sonisphere would offer the better package for them. But again I wasn't talking exclusively about V

Another if they're touring, White Stripes.

What about The Who? They're still touring and if the past few years are anything to go by then they're not shy regarding festivals. Plus would shut the people who say V gets a weak line-up up. :P

It'd be easy to suggest Arctics and Green Day, but I also think they'll both headline TITP and it'd make V's line-up look boring and unoriginal.
