Bradders
Bombay Bicycle Club are a fantastic band, I'm quite surprised they're not bigger. The other 3 are pretty boring though I think, it's a weak tour but I'm going just for BBC, they're a band I can see getting progressively bigger and in 2/3 years time may be near the point of NME headlining. scottt
On the other hand... Maccabees haven't drawn the attention of one of The Smiths yet to the point of them joining the band.

pigshair123
pretty sure that isnt an indicator of how big they are.
Bradders
The Drums are great as well, a breath of fresh air and really good fun. I can't see BBC getting big to be honest, they aren't doing anything too different but they do it well.
danny12345
Cant really comment on who's going to headline the tents next year as we are too far away but just wanted to reply by saying how strong i think the NME tour lineup is. Personally Maccabees at Brixton was my gig of the year and Bombay Bicycle Club/The Drums albums are pretty f**king good too... cant wait to see them all at Brixton in February. Big Pink ... eh! : ) Track 1 is awesome and everyone does/did love Dominoes...
Joshuwarr
The last two times the Maccabees have played the NME stage they have had absoloutely massive crowds. They can headline it fine EDIT: I find it hilarious how people seem to always make comments about how indie is "dying" and offers up no new good music. But you take a genre like metal which is literally just a genre which has revolved around the same bands for pretty much twenty years. I find it impossible to think of a metal less than 10 years old who could headline Reading. Yet there are plenty of indie bands who can and HAVE done so. By the way, this is not an attack on metal. But more of a response to the critics. Edited December 13, 2009 by Joshuwarr

thomasowen
Nothing has changed in the maccabees camp since last time they played so why should they headline the tent? Thats what I don't get.

jordanuk90
NME headliner should be used as an alternative genre to Main Stage headliner so if it means The Maccabees are headlining NME surely we're in for something good on th Main Stage. On another note I don't think The Maccabees are big enough to headline

thomasowen
But how big they were when they played, couldve been different to how big they were when they were booked. They did have quite a big increase in popularity just before the festival, and the organisers could well have been surprised with the size of the crowd they got. Vacant0
I still think it's a bit much to move a band from fourth from top to headliner when they won't have released anything in between. I'm not sure it will happen.
Ice Fatality
Actually, is it this tour's headliner that will headline the NME tent, or the other NME tour? 'cos if that's the case, then it could be British Sea Power?
