YouWhat
Did anyone use the ready pitched tents ect last year. I quite fancy this idea. Are the tents ect any good, Are they well spaced out, What area is it in, How far from the car parks, Is it secure, OK i know its not for everyone, but i am trying to make it easier, less to carry to and from the car, just a small rucksak is sounding ok to me. At my age i now find it a real pain pushing a truck of stuff from the car and then having to pitch the tents.

jeffie
The tent pegs are crap, bend, and don't even burn well. I think after the first test the year before they just gave up. J

YouWhat
The people operating independent camping vary from year to year, and hence so do the locations. One thing is a constant though: Unless you go for a Tipi, they are all outside the fence. So anything you gain in "drive up" convenience for the initial pitch, you will almost certainly lose in walking - up steep hills - thereafter. Alternative ideas... - Rent a campervan, or buy a cheap one and sell it afterwards. - Be ruthless about what you take. - Pace yourself on the "in". Even if it means taking a break/beer/sit down every 15 mins. You'll still get there.
lord stradmor
You could always go for the Joe Bananas solution - they do camping packs quite cheaply to pick up at their stall (Near the meeting point) at the beginning of the festival, which you pick up after ordering them online. As I recall you get tent, sleeping bags and mats. Worth a thought, at least - send someone to find a good pitch, while the other legs to the shop... Unfortunately their site is down at the mo, but you can find it here: http://www.joe-bananas.co.uk/ Millets have a stall selling tents and bags at shop prices opposite the Other Stage as well. Glazieyes
I stayed last year for the same reasons mostly as yourself (I was also flying), it was spot on, only 20 minutes from my tent to the front of the pyramid. Tents were well spaced, we hired a van and parked it in front with all our beer. Clean proper bogs and hot showers every morning, after 10 or so years of roughing it at festivals it was as if we were living like kings for £110 a man. All being well we'll be doing it again this year

r0cky
But what was the walk up and down the hill like? You had to enter the site from the south correct? Where exactly was that entrance? It was not one of the actual pedestrian gates, right? I heard that walk (from site entrance to camp) is not great
