When does the Kidz Field open?

Hi

Does anyone know if the Kidz field will be open on Thursday for 2010?

We are planning to take our two kids with us, aged 8 & 4 (for at least part of the festival)

Would anyone know what is likely to be going on for kids at the start of the festival? Or where the best areas to head for might be?

Any help / info would be very much appreciated

Many thanks

Last year the Kidz field opened at 9 am on Friday, don't know what it will be in 2010.

The green peace climbing boat was open on Thursday! My kids spent time on that, but basically there isn't a lot open - I would say bring stuff like a frisby or a ball, or badminton rackets or something, so they can have a good old blat around the space on the Thursday, my two liked doing that.

Meeting up with other kids in the family camping, the youngest had some spinning poi streamers she loved messing about with.

Kidz field always opens at 9am on fri they are often still building stuff on the thurs lol. We have always spent the time wandering round the markets on the thurs gets it out of their system so you can spend more time in the kidz field later. There was also a lot of stuff open in the craft fields on the wed and thur last year. My daughter and friend made copper spirals, dreamcatchers, wooden mobiles and clay models as well as other stuff. There is unfortunately a charge for much of the craft stuff varying from £2-£20.

There is not an awful lot of room any more for playing football/badminton/frisbee in the family field it is a lot busier than it used to be but there will be space up by the stone circle (although that is quite a walk)

No, no need to camp in the family field. With a group of 12 and if your six year old is the only child, it is probably best not to. Firstly space can be difficult to come by, secondly if you are the only one in the group with kids, the others may not be as sensitive to being quiet late and night and things.

Kids are welcome to camp anywhere. Bear in mind there is lots going on at every time of day so it might be noisy at night when is trying to sleep. Personally I find the noise doesn't bother me but then I have never had kids there.

I had a different experience a few years back with our group in Big Ground. Now we are not

noisy , tend to spend little time by the tents , at the end of the night some of us go off for the

night , the others have a final spliff and cider and are tucked up in bed for midnight.

A bloke with a family ( but never saw his missus ) had put his tent near us and this was the

first thing he said to me (cos I was nearest )

" I have brought my kids one of them is only 6 , if its noisy and he is kept up , I will

f**king have you ! "

When I sort of tried to explain that I could not be held responsible for the whole of Big Ground

he seemed to not to want to listen.

Anyways I heard later he went home the day after !

:P

you should have replied back "if your kid disturbs me before midday I will f**king have you!" :P

I hear more people complaining about being woken by kids than I do of kids having been woken by adults.

The guy sounds like an absolute tool.

Kids can usually sleep through anything, just as well at Bloom in 2008 the tent next to us was yelling about how great speed and nitrous was, and making a huge deal about rolling a spliff and generally making every drug reference under the sun, plus bonus songs. :P:P

The kids zzzzzzzed through it all. Well, either that or they were being VERRRY crafty and pretending.
