No I didn't! Ive said what two (or indeed a group of people) mutually agree to call one another does not legitimise it for everyone to call everyone by the same name. Using your argument, if two black people agree to call one another nigger, the BNP is perfectly entitled to call all black people the same. Whether it occurs in a gay bar is irrelevant to the matter

And the word carpet muncher is used with malice to upset and discriminate too. And because we dont use the word nigger because we know that it will upset very many people if we do, why is it ok to use carpet muncher when we know it will upset very many people if we do? The intent of the user becomes irrelevant when a phrase is used as a predominantly derogatory one. So whilst you wouldn't say to an African 'it is ok for me to call you nigger because I dont mean any malice by it'....can you see where this is going?

I've just read through this whole tiresome episode, my god man you take life far too fecking seriously

Lighten up man, it was a bit of banter--not laddish or anything of the sort...just a standard female prison joke...much like you'd get the "he better hope he doesnt drop the soap" if it was a male prison!!

Some folk seem to live their lives with the sole purpose of being offended...you appear to be 1 of these people!!

So because two films do something, that legitimises it for the rest of us? That is the extent of your intellectual contribution 'well, they said it in White Chicks'.

I'll go out burgling and offer in my defence 'well, have you seen Ocean's 11'.

That is about as moronic as you have ever got.

Nice try again Phil, your technique is running a bit thin today.

It was an example of these words and ideas being used in comedy. I can't exactly say "sopmeone did this, but they done that" so I used two popular movies a lot of people have seen to illustrate it.

Although I suspect you knew that...

You have different types of comedy yes? I'm not dismissing the fact you have racist comedy, homophobic comedy, etc

I'd imagine amongst the rank of the BNP there are racists jokes where the aim of the joke is to take the piss out of, say, an Indian person? That gives it malice and aims to target a group in a negative way? Yes?

It's not as clear cut as you are trying to make it out Phil!

pogo just accept the fact that citing what happens in 'White Chicks' is not a legitimate source for what is and isn't offensive language. IT IS A MADE UP FILM. Just as you wouldn't cite what happens in Die Hard as a legitimate way of dealing with terrorists, please dont do it for this.

It's a peice of media which uses a joke which you said cannot be used by white people. I used it with another reference too. These are just two parts of popular culturw which disproves your theory of clear cut right and wrong. It demonstrates that there is room for context when dealing with humour or comedy.
