Andrew_iow
Dont buy until Monday, lets kick X-Factors butts.. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2228594104 Edited December 10, 2009 by Andrew_iow
swede
Its a guarantee anyway that the X-Factor song will be Christmas number one. Even, if by some chance, that RATM did outsell it the "Satan of Pop" that is Simon Cowell has so much control over "pop" music in this country that he could just rig the charts and have the X-Factor song be announced as No.1. Like he gives a shit anyway, anything remotely to do with Sony records and he's racking the cash in, so if RATM sells its a win-win for him. He's probably at home lighting his cigars with burning £50 notes thinking this whole thing is f**king hilarious.

ampersand
Low and behold the next year X factor started and Cowells domination slowly began, I think he knew he was on a hiding to nothing with Pop Idol when McManus won it. ampersand
Is it not exactly the same show? Just rebranded? Having ignored it since it began i could be wrong
swede
nope. pop idol was a certain age range only, just soloists. and there was no mentors so it was all about the singers and not petty fighting with the judges. plus there's no ant, dec or pete waterman on xfactor and it wasnt all overblown and ridiculous. was just in a wee studio. sadwitch
Normally I ignore this kind of thing but it would really really annoy the people at work if this happened and they made me listen to Abba, Leona Lewis and Gold Radio this week and one of them lost my scissors. I would like it if it happened.

Lithium05
I think given the link to sony it is a poor choice of song. But the lyrics reflecting the cause obviously makes sense. Personally i would have picked a band on an independant label, Nofx are the first that spring to mind, though I'm not sure which song... maybe "Idiots are taking over" "separation of church and skate" or my favourite option "please play this song on the radio"

Snufflebutt
ignoring the fact that I couldn't care less about the x-factor, or what's no. 1 at christams... why would I want Rage Against The Machine to be no. 1? it's a great ploy for them, isn't it? cynical??? me???
