ampersand
don't think it's journey. rumours are miley cyrus now. i don't know the song but apparently it's been chosen for joe because they're expecting him to win.

Rachie
I don't think that's really the point, it's more of a two fingers to the x factor and cowell, to let them know that their 'music' is terrible, and that if enough normal music fans get together, actually there's more of them than the people who like x factor and buy the leona lewis album from tescos. I don't know whether this will get anywhere. Think the biggest opportunity was last year with Buckley's, but maybe enough people saw that get to number 2 to be encouraged to buy this year. It needs the right song at the right time for it to work, eventually it will happen, even if not this year. I'm not too bothered and don't know what's been top of the charts all year but it would be nice if it works.
pinback
in one sense they are, but in the other they're hypocritical. i agree, i think a christmas song would have been better. like a lesser known one from the past.
ampersand
which was the E-Street Band, pretty much trying to do their version of a similar type of Spector christmas song and not a bad job of it, either...

irons
Apparently up to around 700,000 friends now. This might actualy work. I've not joined but will download anyway. Around half a million buys/downloads should slaughter the XFactor number one effort.

rachbon
500,000 will make it a competition. will take a million to 'slaughter' it.

ampersand
Well 700,000 now, plus the people like me who didn't join. These X people buy one copy for the gran for their Xmas. The RATM are talking 5 or 6 a time. It's a slaughter. I could be wrong but cowell might get a red face (maybe).

Snufflebutt
Theres a difference between joining a facebook group and stumping up cash for a single. 700000 folk wont buy a copy each Also I've noticed that Killing in the name is 48 in the Itunes chart which suggests that some people have downloaded the song too early for it to count towards the Xmas No1. It wont happen, and I doubt it will make the top
irons
a pint voucher to the value of 20 quid?
ampersand
Well, no. But you must admit the number one is up in the air this year. The difference is your relying on the brainless masses, I'm betting on RATM and the followers. Tell you what £10, and a lift to Download/Sonisphere? irons
OK, gladly pay the tenner for the lift. Thanks.
dakyras
Its a bit weird Simon Cowell specifically mentioning a relatively small internet campaign in a press conference attended by much of the country's media. Needless to say, the number of people who have joined the campaign has gone up by a third since he did so. I've noticed in a few other forums people starting campaign threads - ie spam by the record company. The whole thing has to be a marketing ploy by Sony. The press conference was funny though. He said, basically that the only people that the campaign was harming was the three folk left in the competition. I wonder how many people were sat at home thinking 'Thats terrible! How can we deny a small child from South Shields the chance to release a Miley Cyrus cover for Christmas before we never hear of him again?' Quite frankly my heart bled a little. harper11
cowell wont be too fussed either way the x factor this year is terrible as far as singing and as a tv show ive just found it very flat if olly wins maybe the ratm thing could win but killing in the name is on the same record label as the x factor single anyway
Lithium05
Meh, I've bought a copy off of Play and Itunes for about £1.50 for both. It'll be interesting to see if this works or not, regardless of how people feel about the choice of song etc.
rexclark
This should be re-released, it was a disgarace it never made Number 1.
-pogo-
It would still be quite funny to see RATM in the Top of the Pops countdown Xmas top
rachbon
RATM will just make the top ten if they're lucky. half the people in the group won't even buy the song.
