thetime
I just cant decide which one would be the best option. on one hand werchter has amazing lineups, easy to get to thorugh eurostar, free travel once in brussels. roskilde just looks really good and people say its very similar to glasto with all the other stuff going on, but I would need to be away from home longet to saviour the atmosphere. whos been to both and which would you choose? AlexDorweiler08
Can only comment on what other people have experienced. Apparently Werchter is very much just lineup orientated. Still a great atmosphere and brilliant bands, but it's mainly music. Whilst Roskilde has got a lot more going on aside of just a great lineup and a great campsite experience apparently.. Dunno if that helps?

thetime
Dont post here too often, but saw the topic and had to give my 2 cents, having been to both. Roskilde, hands down. Dont go to Werchter just because it's easy. Make the effort to get to Roskilde (which isn't hard, anyway). Werchter was, for me, disappointing. Not a festival in it's true sense. It was just the two stages of big name bands and that's where it stops. No vibe in the campsite, nothing going on, all a bit of a let down. Roskilde, on the other hand, has more music options, loads of stuff going on in the campsites once music ended, a lot more of a socialable crowd and it's super close to Copenhagen, which is well worth a visit pre/post the festy. ronaldo
Been to Rock Werchter last couple of years and had a really good time. Its a really good festival if just looking for something pretty simple (easy to get to etc) and really just interested in seeing a lot of good big bands. Has 2 big headliners each night, usually a rock/indie one about 10pm then a dance one about 1am. Seems to pretty much get the best line up every year if thats what you like. If looking for more of a 'festival-atmosphere' (bit like Glasto etc) then wouldnt go tho as its mroe just like a big stadium gig than a festival. Not been to Roskilde tho so can't comment on it
Wm.!
Jut bought my ticket to Roskilde. Have been to Werchter, and yes they do have the big names. For me, that's not what I go for. I want variety in styles of music and things to do. Seriously, if there's nothing on you like, you're bored at Werchter. There's nothing else to do. I ended up watching Billy Talent and Marilyn Manson. Not for me. I think Roskilde will be more of an experience AND they too have big names. Coldplay, Oasis and Kanye West last year and Muse this year. So, let's have an icecold Tuborg at Roskilde then hey?
