TalkShow Bob
No, not posh at all, it's a shithole! Well City Road is anyway, how many fecking takeaways do you need on one road. More posh than Splott though I suppose...

brighteyes
Yeah I know, that was the joke... Though Splott is very close to Pengam Green which has Tescos at the end of the world in it!

Harrow Strongbow Ciderman!
HA1, HA2, HA3, & surrounding area.. Fair bit of snow in Harrow, Middlesex (N.W. London) around 8pm. So much so that the BBC had a correspondent out our way for the news. I was not at home but in EC2 around 7.45pm and snow flakes just started coming down in the heart of the City Of London. Wasn't settling cos too wet. I got home to HA3 around 2 hours ago and soooo much snow that: 1) I couldn't reverse into my drive without skiding ...Plus I skidded mildly at the end of my road b4 hand. Hope the road gritters are out tonight or I ain't gonna risk driving Friday. 2) enough f**king snow in my garden to build several snow men & if my kids don't go to school Friday, there is gonna be a helluva snowball fight in our neighbourhood! Yippee!

Kyelo
you wonder how they get anything done in russia.
rabid
Thats what gets me, places like Scandanavia, Russia, northern China and Canada get mountains more snow than us for prolonged periods yet quite easily manage to keep things open. It takes snow on a truelly bibical scale to shut them down. We are soooooo useless when it comes to winter weather.
ampersand
There's your explanation right there, it's really not worth us spending huge fortunes on staff and equipment for what is after all a fairly rare situation.
rabid
but how much would it cost to get shit loads of grit and mr plow at each of our major airports?
ampersand
Think it might be a bit more technical than gritting the runways. Strudders may be able to help here.
