choadus
I've read quite strongly that there is nothing to do at the festival other than the two stages. Are there any cool places to hang out, wierd arty shows or any cool stuff that happens at some festivals? Also is the campsite really as dead as people say? Me and some mates are thinking about it, but i wouldnt go if it was just for tunes. Regards.

Gypsyman
There not that much to do. There is a bus thing that blasts out music in between acts that are on at the 2nd stage which is uaually pretty good and there is also a whole street of bars just outside the arena that folk hang about a lot. But not really any other things going on, Werchter is a great festival but is pretty much about drinking and watching big bands. There not much else going. AlexDorweiler08
Another option, if Roskilde is too dear for ya, would be Open'er in Poland. Pretty good lineup last year, so far confirmed Pearl Jam for this year. Also, 4 day incl. campsite tickets are like 65-70quid. But yeah, we considered Werchter this year for the bands too, but heard a lot about how you shouldn't really expect much else then just like 5 big name bands a day.. pryce
is there a town close by to get beer and food? and ifso is it walking distance or is the shuttle bus needed?
jenko
Leuven is a big town and is about 5 miles away. It is a fairly nice place too - quite studenty with lots fo cafes and bars. By the time you have walked from the campsite to the shuttle bus it will probably take the best part of 45 minuts to get there. The buses are free though and there is plenty of them.
