Yeah but the two examples you listed were from Glastonbury. Glastonbury is like some kind of British institution where everyone has to agree with the headliners and if not there will of course be coverage about peoples displeasure about it, even if they're not attending the thing. Kylies proposed appearance earlier could also be said the same as Jay Z. Take when it got flooded a few years ago, it was major news even appearing on the front page of newspapers like The Times. When it happened to Reading no one really cares but those who attend. Reading/leeds is just like V and T, just another festival really. I couldn't really give a shit about whos headlining those 2 and I can't see why anyone who attends them would care about who is headlining at R/L. TCV will get little in terms of media coverage if it happened.

As for efests, I don't think they have said they will headline but have said that their sources have said it and thats the point trying to be made.

This is why it seems theres less and less rumours on efestivals these days, people take them too literial, if its a TBC then fare enough but a rumour is just that, a rumour.

Last year efests got V completely wrong but they were bang on the money with Download. It happens, this website has generally in my 10 years or near enough of using it [i was on the old version before 2002 as well] been giving us correct info on the artists due to play a festival long before they're officially announced and way before any other website leaks it too.

I must admit, in recent years theres been some other sources get in there first, U2 at Glasto this year, Muse at V and Pearl Jam at Reading the other year, but usually efests is there first. But when they're wrong all hell breaks loose

Efests has done me really well. 2008's V rumours were spot on, last year's Leeds and Sonisphere were very good too. Obviously a rumour is a rumour - they're not saying they 100% think certain bands will be there, and Neil's never claimed what they say will be 100% correct, but from what I've seen they're very often on the ball.

yeah agreed efests have been pretty accurate with info over the years. Efests said about TCV "word we're hearing is that they well may be a Reading headliner "...which i just repeated by saying that makes them a likely candidate to be Reading headliner then - as Efests has been a reliable source in the past. No one has ever said "oh that means TCV are defently the Reading/Leeds headliners then, book closed". jesus wats all the hoo haa about :P

I think people need to calm down, it's good getting a few rumours but they're just that. It's hardly like you have tyo wait half a year to find out who's playing, the announcement is only about 5-6 weeks away.

Early March last year weren't it? I have a terrible memory

On another note about Efest's rumours i'd much rather them have rumours now so we can discuss them to keep us sane through the winter instead of just waiing for the official announcement

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK EFESTS!!!!

Just search google news, type reading or leeds festival. choose 2009 from the timeline at the side and it gives you a timeline of the stories written on it obviously the most stories are written aug/sept due to the festival being then and reviews etc.
