If TCV were to headline mainstage there'd be uproar. There's a world of difference between playing an anticipated secret set & being the pinnacle of the day. Plus, if Josh Homme brings the same level of enthusiasm as he did when QOTSA played in 08' they'll whip the crowd up in to a coma within minutes.

Have the 'leaked' Greenday festival appearances been discredited?

I'm going with :-

Greenday

Kasabian

REM

But I'm hoping for KISS

It honestly won't happen. They'll probably get a decent slot on the Main Stage but when was the last time you heard about a side project who haven't even played a UK arena before headline the fest?

It's really not as far fetched as you seem to think.

The side project argument doesn't really hold any clout.

If they're treating the band as a side project, it would mean they wouldn't care about associating themselves with their other bands and could play some songs from QOTSA/Foos/Led Zep, maybe even the "N" word* if Dave feels enough time has passed and it feels right (unlikely I know, but if it was gonna happen anywhere it would be Reading). Which would just add to their credibility as headliners. They could even include some special guests isomething the Foos have done a few times in the past.

The only valid argument is the one album thing. But I imagine those 3 could come up with a way of not going all "The Darkness" on us.

*not the racist one :P

We can only hope they are healining, with there own stuff. Play 2 a massive crowd & blow the socks off all of the doubters by putting in the performance of the weekend for the second year running.

I'm just not sure TCV would be booked 2 year running and play a similar timeslot only giving enough time for 1 album worth of songs. I can't see them agreeing to that!

I really can't see why they would be classed as bad headliners and everyone is against it

They should have 2 albums out by then, they're huge arytists performing together for who knows how long an amount of time, they might be done by next year and then people could look back and go remember when they played, that was a awesome performance.

It could be a moment in history

Plus Im sure thing may be, if Reading doesn't offer them a headline spot, Download might, and that may be what forces their hand

The demand for people to watch TCV is huge, they did a small tour and tickets were going for £70-100. Theres a lot of people who are fans of the band members bands you have since listened to them and want to see them, album sales mean f**k all, most people steal it from the net, but the demand to see them live is massive, if they are only going to do one UK festival and not a tour, the whole worth of arenas full of people will want to see them at whatever festival they play.

If that demand is there, why puyt them lower down the bill? Plus if they are in a bidding war for their services then they may have to pay them headliner fees so they would naturally headline

Theres a lot of reasons why they could headline as much as why they shouldn't

The Raconteurs has Jack White. A guy from a big band.

TCV has JPJ, Homme and Grohl. Three of the biggest bands at the moment/all time in Zep, Nirvana and QOTSA.

big difference.

However, they won'tand shouldn't be anywhere near a headline slot.

As I've said before alot of people on here give the organisers of R&L alot more credit than they're due. TCV could headline and there would be alot less furore about it than there has been about other previous headliners.
