olly!olly!olly!
I'm sure this topic has been done before but I couldnt find a thread already so feel free to merge if you like... Ive been to Reading festival once (2009) and Leeds festival once (2008) and am planning on going to reading/leeds again this year. Cant decide which one to go back to. Any thoughts about which one is generally a better place to be? I had a marginally better time at Leeds but that was due to the lineup that year I think
Lithium05
This again Reading. The bands try harder. If they could pick to just play one they'd play Reading.... Except the ones from yorkshire/the north
thetime
been to reading many time and leeds 4 or 5 times, leeds wins hands down due to the people who go there in general. would rather cut my wrists than go back to reading, but im sure its all opinion. Dave
Been to Leeds and to Reading, Leeds pisses over Reading. Much better vibe about the whole fest.
rexclark
Leeds, nothing better than getting away from the rat race for a weekend and getting to act like a tit and set fire to things!
VCK
Well, I've never been to Reading so I can't really pass judgement. I have heard Reading is better though. However, the argument for Leeds being better is that it's "up North, man!" This claim usually made by people dressed like extras from Skins who are about to go to a Uni down South yet think being Northern makes them superior to people who aren't. Leeds has been getting worse by the year, no thanks to those faux-patriotic trendies mentioned above, and from what I gather Reading is going downhill as well. Can I end this discussion by saying Glastonbury shits on both? Edited January 8, 2010 by VCK
rexclark
I've only been to Reading once and didn't like it. I've found it more friendly at Leeds fest (even though there are alot of dickheads) and although it's less covenient I prefer the fact that Leeds is situated out in the country rather than slap bang in a city centre. VCK
At the end of the day I can't imagine Reading being too different from Leeds. They both get the same line-up. They've, in recent years, become the place to be for Skins/Nathan Barley trendy types. They both have problems with pyromaniac knobs on the last night. Only difference I can really presume is that Reading has more Southerners and less hills than Leeds! Also Rex, Leeds used to be held at Temple Newsam (in 99-02, when you went) which is pretty much just down the road from the City Centre. It's not quite like Reading which actually is in the town centre but it's still inner-city.
thetime
I can assure you vck that leeds fest doesn't have as many dickheads as reading.

ivan
I have been to both Reading and Leeds. Leeds is far better cos its in a country park so far more room and nicer festival feel than the Reading site. You only have to look at the annual NME ariel photo's of the site to see what I mean , Reading is so cramped.

thetime
Yeah but glastonbury has been the best for a very long time, probably 20 years and beyond especially the 15 years I've been attending festivals.
