Hello, It's my first time at Kendal calling this year, just wondering what the schlepp is like from the carpark to where we will be likely to be camped if we arrive at about 10am Friday?

Also,is there a supermarket near the site, for beers and that?

any answers be gratefully received, cheers in advance

Hello all. I'm not just a Kendal Calling virgin but a festival virgin too - and at the age of 48! I'm bringing my younger son (15) who can't wait, although I must say my enthusiasm is being dampened a little with every weather forecast I look at!

I would be really grateful if anyone with experience of KC could let me know a few things. I intend to bring a one ring camping stove to warm up some previously prepared food (curry, chilli etc). Are there facilities for washing the pan? Is water available in the camping area? Am I likely to be able to get a shower all weekend (apart from the rain)? It's years since I've been camping so any advice gratefully received as to essentials I'm likely to overlook.

Anyone found a weather forecast that says it will be dry? ;)

Looking forward to the experience, but not the weather!

My first advice would be not to eat reheated curry and chilli at a festival! My first time at Kendal but been to loads of other festivals...essentials would be toilet rolls, a torch (preferrable a head torch, its a lot easier going to the loo at night if you haven't got to hold a torch in your head...I got some from a local pound shop that work great!), some bin bags to put your dirty clothes in...and there is water in the campsite (or should be!)

And don't worry about the weather mate seriously...we'll no doubt get rain and sun over the course of the weekend...you'll have a great time whatever, loads of really sound people, great music and entertainment, great beer...besides, the forecasts are always wrong...the weather forecast should consist of the forecaster standing on screen shrugging their shoulders while the words 'f@ck knows!' scroll along the bottom!

Ha ha! I hadn't though through the potential consequences of reheated chilli/curry. Good advice!

I'm sure I'll have a great time - the beer will see to that if nothing else! Thanks for the advice.

helloo is there any 18+ wristbands so that you don't need to carry ID with you round the festival? I ask because I only have my passport at the moment (apart from student ID but I wouldn't of thought that would be usable) and I'm going on holiday on the Monday(2nd) so if I was to lose my passport I would be essentially screwed but if there is a wristband I could get I could use my passport then take it back to the car. I went KC last year but I cant remember any over 18s wristband just wondering if there is this year at all?

The rain hasn't been to bad around the site today it's been fine all day!

Some one asked about supermarkets close by no there's nothing. You could walk to lowther caravan park which has it's own supermarket 15 min walk through lowther estates .

What is the crack with BBQ's does it mean you go and cook in the area or can you camp in it?

My business is the fringe of the site so I'm safe in the Knowledge I can go there for a dump!!!! Microwave , toaster, coffee I'm sorted ha ha!

Does the shop on site stock beer? to like take back to the camp.

And how do drugs go down at this festival? .... just say a couple of splifs? security wise. Although i'm sure most people on here cant advise anything other than to not bring anything :P
