Blink 182 My Chemical Romance Soundgarden

It appears that in tommorows copy of the magazine nme they will say they have been led to believe that blink 182 My chemical Romance and Soundgarden will be playing. Seems quite likely. Whats everyones thoughts on this?

Although slightly more to my tastes than last years I wouldn't really call it a strong lineup though

Assuming they're headlining, it seems very strange taking into account the recent change in the demographic of a Leeds/Reading goer.

I would think soundgarden if they played would be on nme stage? There has to be some truth in it as they do have there own stage at the festival?

if those were the three headliners, which i doubt, not going to lie, i'd be very disappointed.

If they were the three headliners that would be weak- you could make a case for any of them only being second on the bill. I'd be amazed if they didn't have at least one staple festival headliner in there.

From trying to read the tiny print in the picture on the website im fairly sure the magazine says Soundgarden are playing at Sonisphere. They're certainly in a different paragraph than MCR and Blink so we could still have another headliner to go.

That would be an awful lineup.

I know people complained about last year's headliners but when you look at how massive those 3 headliners are, this pales in comparison.

Arctic Monkeys and Kings of Leon are definitely bigger in the UK than Blink and MCR.

If we were to put Radiohead up against Soundgarden then it's fairly obvious there too.

It does seem quite likely though. I have a feeling I'll be in the NME or Dance/Lockup for the headliners this year. Might go see Soundgarden, depends who they're up against.

That does seem weak id those three headlined. I think its more to do with the fact blink and mcr could both be easily placed second on a bill without any real fuss. If both played the same day that would appeal more to me.

Soundgarden are the only from the three I would definatly want to see.

I don't think the speculation is over yet. Also it could be down to the fact mcr tweeted it last year and blink seemed a certainty for most.

Theres no chance MCR or Blink would be in the nme tent, Soundgarden is a possibility. I know its not gonna happen but Iron Maiden, Green Day and then MCR subheadline Blink would make me soo happy!!

the more I look at it the more I'm convinced it says Green Day, Blink and My Chemical Romance. A very pop punk lineup that would be, and one I'd be happy with.

No i cant see mcr, blink and green day headling, i think the fanbases are too similar. I am certain festival repulic will be looking for at lest 1 band more popular with the "indie" crowd. It makes sense as these are the majority of the people who go to the festival.

pfftt, you can't be serious?

In '06 MCR played 3rd from top before the release of Black Parade; since then they've had a no.1 single, major exposure, arena tour and a huge selling album. Granted, they've been on haitus (and IMO they're not headliner material still, second suits) but they're a massive draw in their field, and have quite large crossover appeal.

Blink 182 - though, again, imo a sub not a headliner - put out some chart smashes, have reunited after a while and have an even larger crossover appeal than MCR. A big deal for a lot of people (many who grew up through the late 90s/early 00s will have fond memories of at least a couple of their hits), the five/six years off will add to excitement about seeing them live.

It'd be madness for either of them to hit NME tent. Total madness.
