wheres the mudfight
if it ends up as Green day, Blink 182 and MCR as the headliners with the libertines 2nd on a given day with NOFX, Rancid, Alkaline Trio, gaslight anthem, DKM and Pendulum scattered across the weekend it will be the best weekend of my life. if somehow the Lawrence arms could sneak in there I think my head would explode. can't see those 3 headlining as they're all too similar. hoping for Vampire weekend, MGMT, the strokes, a return for the King Blues and frightened rabbit. Ash and Biffy Clyro too! that's not too much to ask is it?
Budweiser
If the two headliners are MCR and Green Day then I reckon the third headliner will be a "less heavy" act. To kinda balance it out, if you know what I mean. ...R.E.M.?

tomdsjames
Why would the libertines play a slot below blink. Despite what people on this board may think, they have sold more records in the uk, have had more publicity and are more influential. Also if people use the argument that blink could headline because they split then that also holds for the libertines.
spwan-of-the-devil
I saw MCR at Reading 2005 in the tent and they were mint Dunno how their main stage performance went though a couple of years later
thetime
The Libertines have one platinum and one gold album Blink have 3 platinum and one gold album Last time Blink played they sub-headlined in the same year Libertines were 6th down. Although I do agree, Libertines would probably headline if they played
thomasowen
cant believe theres a discussion who would headline between libertines and blink, is that how r/l are struggling for headliners this year.

tomdsjames
Why? They are two bands who are popular and have been away for ages. I would rather have them than a band who are touring or at festivals every year, even if they were bigger eg Kasabian, Kings of Leon or Green Day. Sam Lanham
if those were the three headliners, which i doubt, not going to lie, i'd be very disappointed.
Lithium05
I agree completely. What's happened to people saying it could be Green Day, Muse and Foos? Thats a real line up
Sam Lanham
Foos are taking a break and focusing on other projects Green Day and Muse are playing stadium shows, and historicly, bands doing their own stadium shows don't play Reading/Leeds, because FR like the headliners to be exclusives to maximize day ticket sales. Lithium05
Muse's stadium gigs are sold out by now. (They must be) Therefore it's not going to harm them in anyway to do a show for 100,000 more people(or however many people go to R+L) Same goes for Green Day
Sam Lanham
Yeah but think about it. Sold out stadium tours = The majority of people who want to see those bands already have tickets to do so this summer, making them less of a selling point for a festival. Sparticus
I can't help feel you're missing the point. The majority of people who want to see those bands will have already bought tickets to see them at their own shows. Having already paid £45 to see each band, why would your average punter then splash out a further £200 to see them again the same summer?! Oh and for the record I have no interest in seeing Muse at all.
Lithium05
i think you're missing the point. I don't think the majority argument can be used, what with muse winning every award created for best live band in the country. Also, in the case of both muse and green day, both did winter arena tours, so surely, using that same logic, majority saw them on the arena tours therefore the stadia shows wont sell out. Looking at it, the muse dates are sold out bar nosebleed seats and greenday are yet to sell out the lccc (i'd imagine they will do, and i'm hardly a fan). Sometimes it doesn't matter if bands are doing their own gigs, acdc could play for a week on the trot and them appearing at download would still ensure a sell out. Bands just reach that level where they can shift as fast as apple can sell ipods, i'd say it's safe to say both bands are at that point. rexclark
Fact is whoever they book they need a big rock headliner and some decent rock/metal/punk bands below them. Although it's not my thing the festival needs it. I wasn't too impressed with having heavier acts datrted all oveer the place last year. I don't feel it really worked.
