Grant titp
Would you consider Radiohead an indie band? Ill start it off by saying no.
Kyelo
Technically in the original sense maybe, but by our modern understanding no. Edited January 24, 2010 by BenchBuddah
Kyelo
Bollox to that, just did some reading into Radiohead. Even by the original term ie 'indepenent from major record labels' they are not. From day one they were signed to Parlophone, a subsidiary of EMI! The only reason they released their last on the internet is because they have the wealth and clout to now do so. EMI FFS! HUGE, HUGE COMPANY! Indie my ass! They don't fit into the original or modern meaning of the term! FACT! Edited January 24, 2010 by BenchBuddah
irons
It's like asking are Muse indie. Neither of the 2 are, silly question.
Iain333
You could argue their first album was indie, but after that.....no way!
tweemo freak
Hmm im somewhere in the middle bout this, just voted YES but am having second thoughts.
rexclark
I would say yes, they aren't though but if you're just using the general term Indie then most people would stick them in that category rather than going into sub genres etc... I would say that they're alternative rock but again thats just a general term used.
theampersanddevil
Radiohead are post modern indie

Kowalski
They released In Rainbows independently, so technically speaking they are indie. They're pish anyway
irons
How did MUSE come into this?
Cruicky
Similar type of music. (at times) As someone said earlier does anyone actualy know what 'indie' is nowadays? It's usualy genericaly used for guitar bands, that's nothing to do with it realy.
Kyelo
Fair dos. I thought the Radiohead/MUSE argument was going to raise it's ugly head. The meaning of indie has been so far mangled from it's original meaning that I kinda cringe when I heard it. It's at the point where when I heard the word "indie" I think topshop/kooks/skinny jeans. And that's TOTALLY the wrong way to be.

Elbear
I don't really care what they are. I try not to put music in genres. I either like it or not.
