I don't even know where'd they'd fit, if anywhere, since the headlined NME in 08.

Depending on the new album they could go 3rd, 2nd or headline main. Depends. 2nd main would be my guess Would be an incredible booking again wherever they play though I think they are pretty set to play Glasto though =]

Love this band, their headlining slot in the NME tent converted me from liking them a bit and knowing the hits into a full obsession so a Reading or Glasto appearance would suit me fine.

Obviously I'd much rather them play the NME Tent as every band is better to see in there than on the main. However I think the Manics could be one of the bands who could actually pull off a great set on the main anyway.

Pretty much no chance of them headlining main really - they'd have to release another Everything Must Go with a massive hit single or two to ever manage that again, sadly A sub-headline slot would be fantastic though.

These days they'd only be able to play about 4th from top sadly. The NME tent wasnt very full when I saw them. I stood slightly to the side and the place was nearly empty other than dead centre.

To be fair they didn't draw a particularly large crowd at Leeds.

But 4th would be too low for a band of their stature. Sure, you could say the same about Primal Scream, The Charlatans, etc. who have also headlined Reading before, but behind Oasis and Blur (and possibly Radiohead) the Manics were the biggest band Britain had produced in the 1990s.

They could still headline festivals if their egos were big enough but they ditched the whole "we're the biggest band in the world!" act in about 1993...

To argue for the sake of arguing I would say The Verve were bigger, at least for a while (And maybe even Pulp).

4th would definatley be too low - their last album was their most well recieved in ages and they are still getting top 5 albums and singles consistently. Add to that their influence and importance I think you could see a top 2 placing.
