well the manics have always done flirted around the pop genre, and the added vocal work with the women just made me think it was their modern day commercial "Little Baby Nothing".... Yeah it'snot their best song, but in my eyes it's definatly a manics song.

Never ever considered the Little Baby Nothing comparasion, might have female vocals in both but never thought it myself - Little Baby Nothing is probably my favourite song ever just for note - but I think Your Love Alone Is Not Enough is fantastic, a brilliant pop tune and Nicky Wire chiming in with 'I could have written all your lines', (deliberate or not?) sounds like a Richey reference so I get a bit of a dark subtext from it n'all.

Your Love Alone is a great song, not their best of course but it makes a good live song.

Journal For Plague Lovers is a good album but I feel they tried a bit too hard to recreate The Holy Bible which just can't be done. I preferred Send Away The Tigers anyway.

Ok. I was just confused by people saying it was good and had a positive reception (although a quick google reveals it did, despite the reviews I see saying more about the background of the album and eve the cover than the actual music).

I'm a massive massive Manics fan, but 'unlistenable' is my one word review of it.

Richey's dark/rambling/poetic/un-musical lyrics c.1995 and James' poppy MOR chorus-led tunes c.2009 just don't mix. It's catchy songs with no catchy words; it's meaningful lyrics on a Virgin 1215 sound. It's horrid.
