VCK
With two of the headliners looking to be Green Day and one of Blink 182 or My Chemical Romance, how about the third headliner being R.E.M.? Green Day look set to be the Friday headliner at Reading so we'll need someone of equal or greater stature to be the Sunday headliner, and we'll also need an "Indie" headliner to balance it out, but Kasabian, The Killers, etc obviously won't do R/L '10 for one reason or another. How about it? New album out next year, never done R/L before but aren't too shy to play UK fests, will sell a day ticket or two considering their large and loyal fanbase and will generally be epic. Messiah Jason
Would love to see them and it'd be nice to have at least one headliner turn up I like so I hope so!
Lithium05
I really would love it if they played. But as it stands it doesn't look too likely. Then again at this stage last year Radiohead looked unlikely
rexclark
Enjoyed them when I saw them about six years ago at TITP and there's no doubting they're big enough to headline but I can't see it really.
Messiah Jason
It'd be a dream day if they could get an assortment of the Manics, Beck, Sonic Youth, Flaming Lips and Pavement underneath but they'll probably be none of them. I can dream though.

gr4h4m
nearly as boring as Radiohead so no thanks
thomasowen
It is possible, not the most obvious choice but they certainly tick the boxes. My only doubt at the moment is lack of news on their new album. Accelerate only came out in 2008 and they usualy take up to 4 years in between albums. Who knows. I certainly can hope... rexclark
Why would we need a indie headliner?
thomasowen
Because the Skins crowd will be up in arms if there isn't one. Edited January 26, 2010 by thomasowen
rexclark
I don't really think R.E.M would be there cup of tea lol. In fairnesss the adverts for the new skins series has some excelent music, the ones I've seen (NOT THE GOSSIP!)

stylishkids
It would be a great booking for the fest. They wouldn't have played for 2 years in the U.K so you would have a bit of anticipation for their return. They have had a lot of hits over their career such as losing my religon, everybody hurts, the one I love, man on the moon etc. that even the most narrow minded Leeds goer should be able to recognise a few tracks that they may not have been able to for other bands such as Metallica, Rage, Radiohead. Add the fact that the last album was a return to form been critically acclaimed and you'd think it'd be a great booking. With them working on the next album I think since last summer they would also be a band that festivals will know they may have a chance of booking. However I just can't see FR booking them, probably because the bands not young enough and it will probably be a less of a risk booking Blink and Green Day. I have little faith in the organisers to book a band outside of their box.
VCK
When did the Radiohead rumours start to appear? I thought it was earlier than this in all honesty, though I could quite easily be wrong. REM would be a great booking, even if they're not up there amongst my favourite bands. It would show the organisers are still willing to book a headliner who might not be paticularly "in" and may not attract a huge crowd. Role Model
in many ways i'd love there to be basically no rumours right up to the date of the announcement, just for the surprise, even if it were all horrible surprises, it would be a nice change. i guess i could just not come on here and be totally ignorant to it all, but i cant help myself. VCK
Well they hardly balanced it out in
judyblue110
I'd say next year, new album wont be out for a while. Good choice though. And they're a lot bigger than most of the usual headliners thesedays.
BlackHole2006
They would be very good and would deserve to headline
