think it would be a gd idea to start this now... cos he obv reads these forums and would give hm time to prepare answers etc

my question is,

can the rockness website be updated reguarly? the lineup etc... the IOW fest lineup page is a gd idea cos theyve got spaces where acts are still to be annouced and announced acts are put straight into there slot... just a suggestion :P

line ups looking great.

Good idea

My questions -

  1. Where is the front row camping going to be this year? Do you anticipate it being well used or do you think it will remain emptier with people camping elsewhere with their mates who got tickets later?

  2. Afterburner - where you putting this and what times will it be open from and till?

  3. Website is still rubbish, you said last year it would be updated regularly but it is poorly designed compared to other festival websites.. can you improve this? and keep it updated with more info

  4. Do you plan to keep the same ideas for catering? ie cash bars, real ale/cider tent, argyll food hall etc?

  5. Finally, what new ideas do you want to see implemented at the festival?

hi rory

i have good news. we now have the lovely rosie and josh who are getting stuck into the website as speak. you'll start to see improvements being made generally with its functionality ect by josh and the content will be widened a lot as well.

rosie used to work at cream and thats where i know her from and she used to do a great job with their on line promotion and so you're hopefully see an enormous improvement in all of our on line activity as she's in charge of keeping it up to date.

give them a chance though as it will take a couple of weeks, and to be fair to them they're starting in the minus numbers in terms of the where the site currently is.

Thanks for the replies Jim :P

Loving the idea of pushing the boundries of the acts you get, already proven by Daft Punk, Orbital and now Leftfield!

Choice is a good thing, you know there is a gap in the market for this type of festival in Scotland with DF making T more mainstream as the years go on since they have 85k tickets to shift. Rockness is a small site, you are of course wanting it to sell well and it certainly is getting a good name for itself (not just on these forums).

Agree with the Arcadia, as you know you have seen it in full effect at Glastonbury and the smaller rig at Bestival last year. These guys know what they are doing - are you allowing them to programme the stage too?

Last thing - Nesstival, love to hear more of the ideas Robby & Josie have for this area.. it was a huge improvement last year at Bestival with the bigger tent for the Bollywood bar keeping the bar seperate from the stage area, hope you can do the same there.

Keep up the good work, this will be Rockness number 5/5 for me and I plan to continue going as long as grabs the attention of my older head.. so next year we would love a older rock act.. see what you can do :P

One more thing sorry, regarding getting something of value for buying early without any line up etc..

Perhaps a reward of some kind, closer camping is fine on a huge site but Rockness is small so the walks are all minimal anyway.

What would tempt me to buy early would be an incentive such as a free programme, a couple of drink vouchers or even a CD of some sorts... am sure that would tempt a lot more people rather than a different bit of a field :P

*And are Leftfield a UK exclusive or Scottish exclusive?

My guess is that it will be the smaller rig that was used at Glade/Bestival last year due to the bloody size of that one at Glasto would take up far too much room :P

Think Jim has already said a few weeks ago that the schedule is same as last year, later start on the Friday with Main Stage etc and then the 2 full days Sat/Sun though am sure he will correct that if wrong.

+1

with all this talk over leftfield not relating to the 18-25 crowd, the strokes definitely will and they balance each other out pretty nicely considering the strokes were the first to show many indy bands the way forward at the start of the decade. likewise leftfield pioneered the dance crossover for bands like prodigy etc

its exciting :P

Where did anything official say Leftfield were headlining?

If they were they would have said so, like they did for The Strokes announcement. They'll be clash headliners if you ask me unless somebody states they are headlining.
