I think Aerosmith are pretty unlikely considering their singer situation at the moment

(I know the band say they want to carry on as Aerosmith without Tyler, but I don't think festival bookers will see it the same way)

if download have bagged rage i'll never say a word about fleecing people on the camping ever again with everyone else though regarding areosmith. They're a band i love, but steven tyler's voice can't be replaced and it wouldn't be fair on their fans to use the areosmith name. The fact that they're even considering it is a terrible idea.

They're only saying tipped. I've said all along no Metallica (3 year deal yadda yadd) I still reckon it's GnR. I can't see RATM playing as they assured their fans on Radio 6 at Xmas after getting to number one that they would play free gigs in the summer - Download is hardly free. also Aerosmith are currently stuffed with Tyler currently wasted off the wagon, and Perry doing his own thing (see China gig).

I think Soundgarden are gonna be a headliner. I don't think Aerosmith what with the singer problems. RATM will probs just do one big free gig and thats that. I still think metallica are a good bet for a headliner.

See I have heard various stories concerning Aerosmith. The main sides being Tyler has said he is quitting and the rest are trying to replace him. (stupid idea, not aerosmith without Steven Tyler. Sorry) and the other side being that they are taking a break while he does some rehab and gets his head sorted. June is a few months off. Maybe (very much wishful thinking) Steven will be back to Aerosmith by then. But would DL take that chance? I doubt it.

The fact is it's all rumor and tabloid speculation at the moment, no one knows what is going on with them. There are so many stories. We will have to wait and see. I for one hope that all is well with them and they can play because I love them!!

As for Rage, my theory is that headlining DL would make money for them that would make this free gig worth their while. I would not be suprised to see them there at all.

hmm, yet more rage rumours have made it to the web, this could be awesome!

I did hear rumours by word of mouth from friends 'who know people' over christmas that dc, rage + van halen were playing and I didn't believe them as Copping is booking their free gig, but they're really growing now...can't wait for the next announcement to see whether its true!

If they do download, that means they will be doing a paid, headlinging slot at a major UK festival, with whatever cash that entails. To do this, they will be shiiping over all of their gear, and would be perfectly well placed to then do a free gig pretty much anywhere in the country if they wanted to.

so basically - they wont be spunking tens of thousands of pounds on putting on a free gig, because they will already be here.

and as far as Aerosmith go, no promoter in the world will book Aerosmith without Steven Tyler. People were moaning about VH headlining (possibly), VH are miles more suitable for a HL slot at a UK festival IMHO.
