Leftfield/Daft Punk Debate

Daft Punk were without doubt the best act i have ever seen at rockness. Fact

However if i was asked what 2 dance acts i would like to see before i pop my clogs one would be Daft Punk....Check!

And the other would be Leftfield......

Going to be amazing on a Daft Punk level defo.

daft punk are bigger. like someone else said, we don't know how big a crowd leftfield will get until we see it. i think they will have a pretty big crowd cause it's so long since they played and a lot of people will have bought tickets just to see them, but the crowd was mental for daft punk, folk queueing all day, the sides of the tent had to be taken down and people were trying to sneak in under the sides that were up - i can't see it being anywhere near that for leftfield.

p.s yous having a efest camp because i soooo need to party wae you guys yous are brill ....i love a good chat about music ...its all in good fun lol

there's been at efest camp at rockness every year and we'll have another one this year. everyone's welcome to camp there, or just come over to say hello if you're camped elsewhere. had a good wee camp last year and hopefully get a decent number of folk this year.

join the rockness group on /index.php?autocom=teams">this page. the efest camp will probably be organised in there. it's a bit quiet in there at the moment but there'll be a bit more chat closer to the festival.

All I am saying is Daft Punk are everywhere, ask people all over the planet and they will recognise Daft Punk, even if they don't recognise there music. How many films have Leftfield done? Leftfield are just about the music. That is not saying who is better but it is a fact.

Totally true on both accounts I think. Daft Punk were and still are doing nothing new. As a producer I could say that they're song are "simple" thats not to say I could recreate a song by them (I have actually created crescendolls perfectly actually).

I could never recreate a leftfield song. Half of their basses I would even attempt to make.

The point I'm trying to make is simple does sell. But as for becoming role models. . . You have to do something defining and different to be that. Thats exactly what Leftfield do.

I saw leftfield play T in 2000 and since I've started going to dance events way back in the 90's (rez etc) they are by far the best dance act I've seen IMO but hey each to there own.....if some people think that a more cormercial group like Daft Punk (who I like btw) are better than a genre defining group then each to there own

tbh, leftfield pioneered the genre and daft punk built on it to become the kings so i reckon no one would disagree that rockness, in the space of 3 years is going to have had the original dance crossover band, leftfield, play, ASWELL as the most succesfull "child" of that type of music, daft punk

some achievement if u ask me for a dance festival
