That all depends really what else you get over the weekend. For how often I find a weekend worthwhile to go to download I'd just rather they were elsewhere. The difference in download booking a band like green day is though is they need to make more effort to cater that day whereas a normal download headliner booking would kinda just follow their usual policy and rotated booking repeats etc. The other days will more so do this given they are more usual bookings.
I have an interest in how the green day day turns out, that's quite obvious. I'm fully entitled to be someone who waits like many buyers until they see a lineup and base it on that. I think the whole gigs scene personally bar the odd few acts is an overpriced mess. Luckily not every other bands I like had jumped on the wagon.
Because slam dunk cost me £110 for a day will bands that I wouldn't hesitate to see vs the usual Download. All round it's a better site and festival. What is the point in me saying £300/350 quid for a weekend at Download with a load of bands that overall wouldn't interest me as much is better value? I've found it worth going to 3 weekends before, 2011, 12 and 23 but I've been to a couple of separate days....that tells you that it's rarely worth the weekend cost for me. There has been a couple of times when maybe I'd have got a cheaper ticket of twickets was around or I knew of it but never a weekend. I'm sure there are plenty of other things I could pay for and likewise yourself you wouldn't consider worth it.
We have much different interests in music but I'm not saying you're wrong for spending money on a festival you actually like, I'm saying anyone can buy a ticket cheaper before a lineup comes out.
If you have such a downer on the festival and the cost of it as value for money why spend so much time posting about the festival? How you have made any point about the festival being value of money compared to Slam Dunk into a negative response about the festival is really quite something.
My camping Downlaod experience last year was my best. 2011 when I was went and 2012 to be honest we're terrible. Arriving, waiting for them to open campsites etc due to basically being unprepared with conditions. Nothings changed in that way since then.
I paid £85, it's not every gig you get a show link those two albums either but the lineup is going to suffer in places ny booking them that's a guarantee. They will not have accepted to do Download exclusive on the lower end of their fee. ST and certainly Korn won't cost anywhere even in the same region. For context, Deftones Crystal Palace gig cost comfortably more than both LB and Korns Gunnersbury Park gigs and they wouldn't play any higher than either of them normally would.
More likely for Reading in my opinion. They've appeared at Reading twice since they've done Download and by all accounts the 2014 was very good and 2018 was epically good when I was there.
